Lets say pigs grow wings and they start flying around and gas prices drop to 1 buck a gallon.

With The First Pick of the 2008 NFL Draft the Miami Dolphins Select Chris Long Defensive End Virginia. :boohoo:

Mike Mayock as a heart atack.
WOW says Jim Mandich
This is Tearibble says Charles Barkley
Emmit Smith thinks this will debacle the team back 2 years

NOW WHAT?

What position do you play Chris Long and who do you sit.

Dont ask me I wanted Matty Ice. You guys are the experts.

Okay, so you want Matty Ice who will.. ride the bench for a year.. and leave us with some pretty big gaping holes next season when we dont have JT/JP.

Mike Mayock said in a radio interview today that Chris Long is the guy he feels Miami will go with, and hes the guy you can build a defense around. Something tells me he WONT have a heart attack

miami then has the power at any point to trade JT for good draft picks next year and in that time Chris will be learning from one of the best in the business. At worse, he can play DE for a year. He has the size, speed, and the motor for it. Holliday and Long at DE, thats a good combo to start with.

Someone should take the crack pipe away from you...

why do you post this just to start an argument. I thin kit is DEFINITELY down to both of the Longs. plus most of those guys you listed :
Mike Mayock big supporter of Chris long
Charles Barkley-what is Charles Barkley doing at he draft (wrong sport)
Emmit Smith-if he think chris long will set us back then he doesnt deserve to pretend to be an analysis.

hey TheBow305 i agree with you. plus your sig looks really good. i looks like i is real. they did a good job on it. just need to make it chris long instead. lol jk

First off, you take Chris Long because he is the best player available. Secondly, if our front seven stays the same it is at this very moment, you bench Matt Roth and either play Chris Long at DE or JT at DE, while putting the other at OLB. I know, I know ill probably get bashed for saying that because everyone thinks there too small and yada yada yada ... since when is there a restriction and requirements to play DE in the NFL? Thirdly, I have this gut feeling that we'll be releasing Porter on June 1 and in which case Long would play OLB (not that i want that to happen, its just this weird feeling i'm getting because he may be a bit to pricey and out spoken for Parcell's liking).

The reasons not to take Matt Ryan at the top of the draft:
1. We already have a good young unproven QB on the roster.
2. His salary would cripple our cap because it would take him a few years to develop.
3. If the trifecta really wants a QB and doesnt believe in Beck, we can get one at #32 or #57 for a thousand times cheaper and currently not much less skill wise.
4. If you take a QB in round 2 and he doesnt work out, it doesnt set your team back to far if at all, like it would taking a QB at #1.

No way we release porter in the second year of 20 something million dollar guaranteed contract...

The flames under Beck feet get really hot and really high. This would mean we not only passed on 1st round QB prospects for him last year but this as well, he has to prove his value.

If we draft Chris Long just accept the fact the draft was wasted. We get a guy who will get a handful of sacks and might make it as a starter but will be nothing special.

Chris Long would not be a waste. I will admit that he is not my favorite player in the draft. That said, I believe he definitely represents value at as the first pick.

He is a better athlete than people give him credit for. I think he has some work to do as far as fine tuning his pass rush technique, but, overall he would be a very nice fit as a pass rushing defensive end in our scheme.

I would likely not choose him if I were doing the picking, but he would deserve to be in the discussion.
