Hadnot was the starter, McKinney was the backup but he's all but gone. Does Wade Smith really have a shot at Center? Or will we most likely look at who gets cut?

welll i can say for sure that Rex Hadnot will definetely be our starting center. And it looks like Bennie Anderson will definetely start at RG. my opinion:

LT: Shelton
LG: James
C: Hadnot
RG: Anderson
RT: Carey

That doesnt answer ur question, but i think Wade Smith is definetely in it as a backup, i doubt he can beat Rex Hadnot for the spot. But he is certainly a solid backup, im very proud of what our coaches did...we have so much talent at depth now. If our Tackles go down, we have Pearson/McIntosh to take over. If our Center goes down, Wade Smith is right there...if our Guards go down, Vernon Carey is a good backup Guard.

1st Rex Hadnot- Good
2nd Wade Smith- Decent
3rd Joe Berger- Stretching it
4th Joe toledo- Versatility

I hope Wade Smith can pan out at Center, his skills are said to be he is a great athlete for an OL, his size is a much better fit at center too. He should be adept at pulling/trapping etc. We'll see I guess. Wade stated that HH saw him as a center coming out in the draft too.

I think Toledo is being worked at C to determine whether he could be the 7th active guy on a game day. We carry nine Olinemen traditionally but only seven active per week. The five starters and one swing tackle and one back-up for the three inside positions. The other two Olinemen are either depth or developmental guys. Can Toledo be one of the seven instead of one of the two rostered but inactive guys? That's what the experiment at C is trying to find out imo. On the regular depth charts Berger is playing the third string center.

Wade smith is a pretty good center, and you have to beleive saban and huock had that in mind when they switched mckinneys position all together
