What is Ryan Fitzpatrick's role

Before you toss the word "bridge" or "mentor," let's agree on one thing, averaging like 5-6 wins a year for his career, needs to be called what it is, a journeyman. Let's not get excited about the wins he led us to, because all that is, is hurting our draft business. In a very limited role, we still don't know what we have in Rosen. You can say what you want to say, the 10th overall pick a couple drafts ago, should have played. In addition, if you are going to draft a qb at 5, you probably should play him. If that means another season of 4-5 wins, but actual overall better play, then that's ok (if your rookie gets PT). You hold two first round picks and with the gaping holes still left on this team, picking in the top 5 again would make sense. Winning 6-8 games next year proves worthless unless the rookie is leading the way. The absolute worse scenario is Fitzpatrick plays, leads us to 7 wins, and we're back to drafting in the middle of round 1, with no qb-play from the rookie. At some point we have to let this thing go

Who...who are you arguing with in your OP? Yourself? It probably would have been much easier to just post this:

The extra playoff team doesn’t take effect until the 2021 season and hopefully by that season Fitzpatrick will be retired or playing for another team. He is not a QB that can lead a team to the playoffs. The Dolphins will be a 5 or 6 win team next year with Fitzpatrick as the starting QB and will not be a playoff contender until they actually have a franchise type QB as their starting QB.
Incorrect sir. The extra playoff team can take effect as soon as the 2020 season meaning this ypcoming season.

12th ranked qb last 2 years in a row on bad teams. Pretty sure hes not the problem by any stretch.

He will follow suit and be bad this year
I dont really feel he is really much good except he does have better than average escapism
That allowed him to throw sa duck up that Parker would win the ball
IMO

Those fans who still say winning those games last year hurt us are clueless.

If we had won 0 games last year, would C Ted Karras turned down more money from NE to come play for us and Flores?

If we won 0 games last year would Van Noy wanted to sign with us?

What about Byron Jones, who also took less money to play for us instead of Las Vegas.

After this homerun of a free agency period I dont wanna hear how Flores and Fitz hurt us by winning games EVER AGAIN! We wouldnt have had half of these guys even consider coming here if we had won 1 or 2 games last year.
Let's not forget there playing in Florida, where there is NO state tax...so are they really making less money?

because he averages 3.67 wins a season. Outside of a 10 win season, if you took seasons where he started 8 or more games,he is 41-74. I mean what utility does someone like this have? do the stats lie?
He was 5-8 surrounded by epically bad talent last year. That's all I care about. He is the starter until Tua (or whoever) is ready. And if its Tua, Fitz is there to be the guy until Tua is both ready and healthy.

You think players didn't develope under Fitz? Please tell me you're joking.
DeVante Parker in the three games that Fitz didn't start averaged 3.3 catches for 51.3 yards. In his 13 games where Fitz started, he averaged 4.8 catches for 80.6 yards.
Preston Williams in the three games that Fitz didn't start averaged 3.3 catches for 48.3 yards. In the 5 games he played when Fitz started, he averaged 4.4 catches for 56.6 yards.
There is zero doubt our receivers developed under him.

Flores will play the BEST MAN, have we not learned this? We play to win the game. With that said if we draft Tua he may be under bubble wrap year 1, so it'll be the best man between Rosen or Fitz for 1 more year.

Besides who cares about ours draft stock, if anything happens to Watson we are drafting top 10 again.

I would even argue top 5
