saban is a hard person to read. Every move he makes is always unexpected. No one really thought that ricky williams would be playing for the dolphins this season. He also has put the best players at the positions. Unlike wanny who would play the players with the most talent. Another characteristic that I have seen in saban is that he is a proven winner. I NEVER expected that we would be 2-2 up to this point, after seeing the mess of last year. My question to you all is what is saban planning for the future?

Really? I actually think a majority knew he'd come back.

No, I don't think too many people started believing it until well after the draft, then it started to come together for a return...

As far as what he has planned, He'll load up with players he's familiar with in the lower rounds of the draft and weed out the guys that aren't performing. Remember he said that the bottom 30 has to be as good as the top 22...

Gee you must have read my post and then decided to try and steal my ideas. huh?

He's planning on winnng games now, and building a championchip team for the future.

He is planning on running the Wishbone with Ronnie, Ricky and, Sammy, Ronnie to the left .. Ricky to the right and Play action to Sammy up the middle while Booker and Chambers go screaming down the sidelines.

i agree with you guys but I just dont believe saban is trying to win right now. He only drafted Brown and then went defense with the next 3 picks. That tells me he is finding the best players. For us to be a playoff quality we need to find the best players and hopefully they are areas of need. It will take a few drafts before all our problems are addressed.

According to many he wants to build his team through the draft. For the most part I know it's early but I think we had a solid draft last year, and expect an even better one this year. Brown, Daniels, and Crowder are already starting, and Roth has potential to be good in a few years. Manuel Wright will be starting in 2-3 years. So we have some youth to build around.

Trying to win now with an eye to the future. Brings in decent free agents along the D but then drafts heavily on defense. Seems like he is following most teams plan of having a great D and running attack. He definitely saw that last years draft strengths were running back and D so he took advantage. While our D is currently often stated as being the oldest in the league, if you look at it we really now have a young, up and coming D. Line: Vickerson, Wright, Roth; Linebacker: Crowder; DBs: Daniels, Poole, Mitchell. I see this year's draft focusing on offense targeting QB and OL, but perhaps also grabbing a WR, CB and Linebacker

WIN WIN WIN! use the right players at KEY positions to win crucial games.

You mean actually gameplan? I'm so used to using the same offensive gameplan every week (ala Wanny).

"We'll have to look at the tape, see what we did wrong and try to run the ball better".

Ever heard of a pass?

He's a smart guy. I'm sure Saban realized that he inherited a mess from Wannestedt/Spielman and that this is a 2-3 year project. I believe he will continue to build through the draft and bring in his type of player. In a nutshell, I think Ronnie Brown is a perfect Saban player. He is a good character guy and extremely physical for his position. Miami will continue to get that type of player and build a physically impressive team.

As for next year, I think the secondary will see a major overhaul with maybe 2-3 new starters. Saban will obviously be looking for a young qb to groom, someone who can throw deep to fit the system. I expect we'll continue to see more defensive picks than offensive ones, however, over the next several years.

I wish more of us understood this......

Saban is trying to install a system similiar to the patsies program. Build a dynasty not just a superbowl team.
