Is Peyton that good? or Did our defense not try hard enough?

When Dallas Clark was outrunning our LB Crowder did we need to make some adjustment or was Indy that good.

I know there are all sorts of problem with offense, but our defense was totally ineffective with a few exceptions.

Porter and Taylor never got to Peyton especially in the 2nd half. The only stop was when Indy got a 5 yd penalty.

Thoughts?

NO Playmakers or Impact players....need more talent!!!!!!!

why is everyone knocking Crowder for Clark's big day? it was mostly Ayodele and the safeties... why is crowder getting the blame here?

I say the problem is Gabril Wilson. It has been said before that he has problems with coverage.

problem is we cant get a consistent pass rush, and our safeties and inside linebackers cant cover for ****

The fact is this team is only 19 games away from the biggest disaster of a season in the history of the franchise. It didn't get that way overnight it took 7 or 8 years of bad drafting and personnel moves to get us that way. We are only in the 2nd year of fixing this and it will take 1 more offsesaon to fill all the holes. Maybe even 2. We dealt with the core last year and started addressing the skill positions this year. It's coming.

Let's see.

Poor Tackling,
Poor Pass Rush
Poor Tackling.
Planning Underestimated Rookies. and doubled Wayne all night leaving others in man. I mean we were really scared of wayne.
Poor Tackling.
The run defense was bad but since indy was having so much fun passing it kinda went unoticed. But still they got some points out of running plays that could have been defended better.

But most importantly the reason the defense was so bad.

Poor Tackling.

The taclking could have been better too.

Did you watch the game?

Crowder was horrible! :hsmash:

I don't know why, but I had this dream before the season started that Joey P and Jason T would have QB's trembling in fear before games. You figure two of the NFL's sack leaders on the same team would scare QB's to hell. It has been quite a disappointment to see that they have had almost 0 impact on QB's aside from their 2 lucky sacks.

i think our secondary needs some time to gel together. We have faced two of the top 5 TE in the league and we have Gates this sunday. We need to get better tackling out of Wilson, and as expected YB is a stellar open field tackler. Our run D has been good because they've all played together for some time. Our secondary struggles i think because out of 4 starters we have 2 new players. Akin was obviously bothered by his back injury which slowed him down but i still think a 100% akin would of lost the matchup with Clark.

IMO, part of it was the lack of tackling but equally it was a lack of scheming on the D-coordinator. Case in point, in order to beat manning you MUST get pressure in his face. The guy is Marino II. He has no ability to run BUT he can sidestep or step up with the best of them and deliver a strike.

What I saw was an anxious dolphins defense giving away the blitz scheme with his hard count allowing him to pick us apart once he knew what was coming and where. We have NO leadership in the secondary. Will Allen didn't have a great night last night and he hasn't assumed the leadership role. Crowder was atrocious. If you Tivo'd the game watch him whiff on the addai run up the middle. Basically didn't fill the hole and was out of place and JA ran right past him for like 10 yards.

Games like these aren't new to the dolphins. This game was eerily similar to the game against Arizona last year which makes me believe the guys were NOT prepared for the colts.

When we did get pressure on manning, you saw him overthrow receivers. Football 101. Make the qb throw before he wants to. This usually ends up in a sack or interception, most of the time. We didn't do that and well we got what we deserved.

We left a few plays on the field. The interception that wasn't because it was dropped. Carpenter missing a fg and for god's sake you DO not allow them to drive at the end of the first half to kick a field goal with less than 30 seconds on the clock IIRC.

Just a bad defensive gameplan and execution all around. That falls on not only the players but Sparano and the rest of the staff.

The problem is our scheme. This was evident in several games last year - especially the Arizona and the second New England game. Matching up Crowder 1 on 1 vs Dallas Clark, Anquan Boldin, and Tony Gonzalez...And lining up Jason Allen in man coverage against Randy Moss...I just don't get it. Our defense can be pretty stout, but its the big plays that really hurt us...and they are all a result of mismatches, and the players that need help arent getting it. No idea why we played a deep zone vs the Colts, the safeties should have been right there as the pass was being caught.

I think our secondary needs time to gel as well but overall, we look very slow and in both games really played with no emotion at all.

I will give wilson a couple more games but if he contiues to play the way he has done in the 1st 2 games, its time to see or rookie safety clemons. In the previous years Bell has seemed to be all over the field and always around the ball. This year he seems to be a step slow all the time. I wonder if that has to do with being paired up with wilson or the game plans. I do like our D-line rotation but we need to upgrade, and get younger at linebacker next year. We are clearly missing a "STUD" MLB. Finally, we need some nastyness. We do not lay the lumber anymore. We continue to get beat physically every game.

He was awful this game but i think a lot of us have reached a breaking point with channing. as a leader of this defense he is a complete failure and in all his years here he has yet to ever have a game where he makes a real impact. he has his contract but he's still the same mistake riddled, unprepared channing.
