Ronnie did not look very good running the ball last night. I know there were not many holes to run through, but he looked hesitant with the ball, and was making cuts and spins that were not even necessary. What is going on with him, he just seems a little off to me. Anybody else notice this, or is it just me? He just does not seem explosive and quick. Not decicive enough with the ball.

Ricky, Lex, and Patrick Cobbs weren't all that impressive either. Last night wasn't the type of game where you could just pick on one player (although people have tried to in the hours following the game). EVERYBODY looked sluggish.

3 games in 11 days can do that to anyone and it showed for everyone last night. its pre-season and we got away with a win, I'm the least bit concerned.

What was wrong with Ronnie Brown? Lack of elite vision, lack of agility or ability to quickly change direction, speed that is much faster on the track that is on the football field, practically no ability to make something out of nothing when the blocks aren't there.

But this is nothing new.

LOL you are obviously a hater of a player that has averaged 4.3 yards for his career. As for the inability to make plays when there is nothing there, I have seen him get yards with 2 or 3 people trying to tackle him and after he gets hit in the backfield. Sad post.

Well I noticed the unnecessary spin... I went like, why did he do that??? wich I said alot of times during that game... Like that throw from Henne in the red zone...

^This.

On that spin move it almost looked like they were faking the flea flicker that we run from time to time. If that were the case I've never seen that type of move done before and it definately looked awkward.

Not a hater. I just see things like they are. I love Ronnie's ability to run hard and get those extra yards. I give him a lot of credit for that.

But the fact of the matter is that Ronnie is far from an elite back and when things aren't going well for him, those things that I mentioned are what holds him back. It's also the reason why Ricky looks a million times better at times, although in actuality Ronnie probably has the edge at this point in their careers.

For practically his entire career, we haven't run blocked very well for Ronnie and it certainly looked that way last night. Ronnie runs toward where the hole should be and if that hole isn't there, he doesn't have the physical ability or awareness to make any kind of cutback or bounce it outside. Whereas if you open a hole for him, he is a very dangerous runner.

It seems obvious to me that's what it was. If the Fox Broadcast team were doing anything but making sure you knew how miserable they were covering a preseason game, they might have noted that as well.

Regardless of his performance last night, which didn't seem so atrocious to me, there is zero reason to believe a healthy Ronnie won't be as productive as he's been for us in the past. The guy is no where near Adrian Peterson, heck, he may not even be Cadilac as far as instincts are concerned but when it comes to all purpose yards Ronnie Brown is a monster. He can block, he can catch, he never lacks a second or third effort and no one was better/smarter at running the Wildcat last year, not even player's who could burn him at a jog.

That said, I very much believe that Willaims, Cobbs, and Hilliard could carry the load as a unit. If a team out there would give us a ransom in return for Brown, I wouldn't be upset at all. It would have to be a ransom though- not an even trade, not just special- a king's ransom.

This was the second thought that came across my mind after "What the F was that?" I made the same comment on another thread. It looked like they were setting up the flea.

Dolphins just didn't get to run many plays last night. Too many 3 and outs and sustained drives by the Bucs early on. None of the backs got to showcase their abilities much. Ricky did check to lay a good lick on a rusher on the Td throw.

I just watched it again when i saw someone say that and it in no way looked like that's what he was doing.

The year he hurt himself - and had been having a breakout year - he started slow. For whatever reason, it seems to take him a few games to get going. I think he can be an elite back, but I agree that he's not yet there, and I don't know that he ever will be. I'm pulling for him, but if he doesn't turn out to be the answer, our FO will keep looking. I doubt Ricky will have the better season, but so far, he's looked better.
