My question here is, how far would this team go (or have gone) with Drew Brees as our QB?

Same team on every other level except replace Frerotte with Brees. Let me give you some numbers to help you decide.

Frerotte's numbers and (NFL rank)

Comp: 257 (15th) Comp %: 52% (62nd overall i think like 30th among starters) Yards: 2996 (15th) TDs: 18(13th) INTs: 13(8th) 71.9 rating which is 28th among NFL starters. Wow thats bad IMO

Now here is Brees
Comp: 500(4th) (can throw it 40 times and single handedly win a game) Comp %: 64.4(3rd)wow big differnce from Gus Yards: 3639(9th) TDs: 24(5th) INTs: 15(6th) (that is kind of high and was a big problem late in games and in the red zone for us this year) He had 90 and that was 10th in the NFL. He is rated 18 passers higher then Gus

Now I thikn this team is SIGNIFICANTLY better with Drew at QB. Look at the Chargers before Drew became an all star. Even LT couldnt carry them past 5 wins. Then last year, Drew turns into a pro bowler and they make the playoffs. Then this year they had a big dissapointement but I dont believe that was Drews problem. He is a big time QB and top 5 in the league IMO.

As for where we would have finished, I believe we would have beat out NE for the division and beat Jax in the first round game and then lost to Denver like the Pats did. That is how big of a difference Brees will make.

HE is a must have for next season. We get JUST him we are for sure a playoff team. IF we get him, a tiny bit of Oline help and a lot of secondary help, that makes us a SB contender.

Thanks for your time I appreciate those of you that read.:dolphins:

and he does that with no wr a great TE and great pass catchin RB we have alot better WR a TE who can probably be almost as good and a RB who alot like Tomlinson accells in the pass game

Brees comes in, as long as he is healty and can play to his previous ability at the least, we get a strong LT for next season a decent center, and one more WR he will have a pro bowl season and Miami has first round home game at the least...

I would say that if we can also upgrade at WR and draft well with D, the sky is the limit. I would LOVE Brees here!

Now I've seen some more then a few people say we need an upgrade at WR. IMO WR is one of the strongest corps on our team. Chambers is an all pro, McMike ( I know hes a TE) Booker is a fabulous number 2 especially when McMike is higher priority. Welker is becoming one of the best 3rd men in the league and possesion guys. Ronnie also is great catching out of the backfield.

No need for a WR. (Cambell is good enough)

with brees..we are a playoff team and top 4 or 5 in the afc.

the one thing i have notcied btw miami and other teams and especially PITT this year, when miami makes the playoffs, they play the wild card all out with emotions ahten the 2nd game they have no emotions, energy or life left in them. i think ssaban will chage that as we have seen a 6 game win streak and if u noticed, PITTS played like an army on a mission that had soo much energy and when they were losing it they wouldn't give up. it was unbelieveable. they did whatevr they could to get there and i think miami needs that type of attitude and i guess personality to be able to win the SB.

I wonder if we'd go farther with Culpepper or Brees, I say Brees, any thoughts

Defintly Brees, Culpepper wont be ready for the start of the season so its kind of an impossible comparrison

So are we in agreement that the CBA deal can't get done fast enough and the end of the week seems like it's a month away? I cannot wait to see what we do.. how exciting is it to be talking about this?

Brees makes the Phins a playoff caliber team. There are other holes to fill before the Dolphins can challenge for a Super Bowl, but with a good draft and some FA signings?

Pittsburg showed that as long as you get in the playoffs, you have a chance, even as the #6 seed. Brees is good enough that we'd have a chance against ANY other AFC team out there.

Culpepper would also make this a much better team, but I can't see getting him without giving up draft picks or players. The chance to get Brees for the price of a contract only, is amazing. Do most realize how RARE that is in the modern NFL? Teams don't let good QBs go for nothing, except under rare circumstances, which San Diego finds itself in.

I'm just excited, as a Dolphin fan, that Saban is improving the team.
