This is all the Miami Dolphins need to remember over the next couple of seasons.

Great defenses have constantly been the focal point of championship teams throughout NFL history. Ray Lewis’ defense carried Trent Dilfer to a championship, all of the great 49ers teams had top defenses, Seattle made back-to-back Super Bowl appearances behind the legion of boom, and now the Denver Broncos have resurrected the orange crush.

The Broncos had the league’s number one ranked defense in 2015 and it showed on Super Bowl Sunday. League MVP Cam Newton and the league’s highest scoring offense managed only 10 points. It was much like what we saw two seasons ago when the tables were turned and Denver’s number one ranked offense (the best offensive of all-time statistically) was held to only eight points by Seattle’s number one ranked defense.

Thats what i dont get about all the people who think a qb wins vhampionships on their own...defense wins championships...always have...the media hypes the qbs and still till this day defense continues to be the most substantial factor in winning championships. And im not talking about juat people onthis site thinking that way about qbs, idk what it is but even on news articles comment sections and on social media its always about the qb, yea it helps to have a great qb but defense wins championships more often than not.

And Peyton will go down in lore as having "Won" another SB.

Peyton had as much to do with this team winning the SB as any poster on this site did.

Which is to say: zero. His team won in spite of him. But idiots will still credit him because of the mythic QB valuation of wins and losses.

I think QB play can keep a team afloat, there are numerous examples of exemplary QB's "carrying" a team to victory. However I agree, defense wins championships when all is said and done.

Ryan Tannehill could have played a better game than Manning IMHO.:rolleyes2:
Once Manning fumbled the ball in the 4th quarter, the OC wisely started running the ball to run out the clock.
Manning was going to blow it if they continued throwing.

They should have had him handing off on that INT series. Even in getting the ball at midfield, the Panthers were no lock to move it or score.

Manning contributed to the Super Bowl by putting enough drives together against NE to get into the Super Bowl. To claim he deserves 0 credit is ridiculous.

Obviously if the Dolphins had the good sense to pay attention to what happened in the Super Bowl and around the league for the last few years they would immediately commit to Wade Phillips base 3-4 defense. Then start cutting some players and get in good shape to acquire other players being released that may fit our system.

Oh but wait.....that would make too much sense, this is the Dolphins we are talking about. They have already committed to the status quo, and are sticking to the 4-3. They are confident in returning to a nice comfortable 8-8 team.

Besides, I think they are all on vacation, spending their 6 and 7 digit salaries that they don't deserve.

Draft ALL defense.. RYAN TANNEHILL is the least of our problems.

The 3-4 is not why Denver won... put that front 7 in any front and they are to be feared... its much more about personnel than scheme...

The same thing the Broncos learned from Seattle. Give John Elway credit. He recognized what needed to be done on defense, added speed everywhere and solidified the secondary. Miami should learn that it's all about the defense.

The thing is, Carolina used six blockers most of the game and still couldn't contain the pass rush.

Quarterback "wins" are really one of the worst stats in football. I know through the years a lot has been made of the Tom Brady versus Peyton Manning duels. Interesting that the best "team" usually won those games.

One of the main things is...

T-bomb cannot simply copy everything that Elway & company did

We have to be focused on winning in the AFC East,

which they have NOT exactly done very well specifically this past season

when it was t-bomb calling all the shots.

We ONLY won one game in our division

WE did MUCH better when t-bomb was not the one calling the shots.

It's not even close. For all the hate directed at Jeff Ireland.

We always did better than 1-5 in the AFC East when he was in charge

FWIW, last year the Denver QB's got sacked 39 times with Mathis, and RT was at 45 without him. Denver's leading rusher had 54 yards or less in 9 games. Maybe the OL is not as important as some think IF ya gotta D.
