Every year I ask my Dolphin friends this question: what one player would you trade up for in the draft? This year feels a little different for Miami and the draft in general. I don't know if there is one player I'd trade up for. That said, a lot depends on free agency and who Miami keeps and who they let go.

So is there a player you feel Miami needs to get, even if that means trading up?

Eric Kendricks. http://www.uclabruins.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=30500&ATCLID=207914026

Dude is just gross with talent and would shore up the MLB position for years. And don't get me wrong, it's not like he'll be the best player from the draft, but he's the one I'd trade up to get. Over Amari Cooper, which may sound crazy to some, but we're better in the WR spot than the LB, especially MLB, spot. Kendricks reminds me a lot of Junior Seau.

Yeah, I don't know that there is one. Earlier in the season, I would have said Winston. Miami's going to have some great talent available wherever they pick in the 1st. Unless you're taking QB, I think the positions battles are pretty tight at the top. And given where Miami is drafting, they'll have a shot at the 2nd best player at a position of need.

Shane Ray maybe. this draft is a bit like last year's, thin on obvious elite talent but very deep.

I would be trading down in this draft, based on what I've seen so far of players.

Yeah, I'm thinking trading down might be a better option than trading up this year. I like Williams on USC quite a bit, but he'll go top 5 and cost a lot of picks. Plus, if Miami is able to keep their d-line intact it's not really a need (yet).

I'll have to watch more of him to be honest. From what I'm reading sounds like he's more of a 2nd rounder, but no question an upgrade at middle linebacker would be huge for Miami. Misi is okay there, but not special either.

We probably are going to lose some key defensive lineman, so I would love DE/DT Leonard Williams of USC....he just dominates in games I have seen, but we would have to give up a lot as Williams is a top three NFL pick in all likelihood.

Kendricks is also a guy who we could plug in.

We are almost at a point as Dolphin fans where we take for granted our defensive line. It's been a strength for a long-time now and it's one area where you want to stay strong. I've said it for some time with New England. They've had Brady and a very good d-line throughout their dynasty.

So, yes, I also love Williams. He may also end up being the top pick overall. But, I do think we may look defensive line earlier than people may think. Depends on what happens with Odrick and Starks.

I would trade up for:

Devin Funchess 6-5, 230 4.65 Michigan TE

Funchess is very intriguing in that the team that drafts him could use him as a wide receiver or a tight end. I do like the way Sims is playing lately for Miami, but would love for the team to add a talent like Funchess.
