What player or coach has progressed from last year?

What I'm trying to say is...Do you have faith in THIS staff to develope the players on this team?

i don't know the answer to that...the personnel for the schemes we run and the talent we bring in would hand cuff any position coach or coordinator...the oline athletic scheme fits are a joke...the lbs i've killed that enough but does anyone have worst depth lb play than miami??? maybe the cowboys who are down to their like 4th string options...

they've butchered the tight end position with guys who don't have high end real upside or talent...the wrs less mathews are smurfs who don't run thru contact or create rac...your free safety never EVER makes a play...i mean to me the first head on the block now has to be the gm...he's murdered us with bad contracts and high cap hits in 2014 even and HORRID draft picks

Hoops, I know you've said you don't think Philbin is the problem with this team before, but yes or no: Clean house immediately and don't look back?

all but philbin...i havent seen anything yet that says the hc needs to be gone...ross is not gonna have a hard time finding people willing to work with this qb as an oc if they go that route and i don't think he'd have a hard time finding guys who want to ride with tannehill either as their qb if he does decide to part ways with philbin...i just don't think he's done anything to warrant it

finding a gm that would work with philbin doesn't strike me as hard either nor should finding a gm willing to invest in tannehill as his guy...

it really for me depends on how much say these position coaches have in the personnel we draft or sign as free agents...the gm yeah his goose is cooked for what's gone on personnel wise under his watch forget the bullying crap but the position coaches if coyle stood on his head and said get me philip wheeler etc or the oline coach was adamant these guys would fit the scheme well then they got to go too...i think i would fire the oline position coach regardless...there is some serious issues with technique and movement skills for the scheme we run up front on the oline that he has to be a part of

Here's the thing though, and this is what put me firmly in the fire Philbin camp:

Don't you agree that the head coach should be responsible for his staff? And do you honestly see Joe firing his mentor? I don't.

i don't think joe picked this staff did he??? if so then yeah he takes some heat too...i just don't get the sense the players have quit on this coach...i think our issues rely in personnel more than anything...

the thing is though i believe in this qb more than anybody else in that lockerroom period there's no doubt in my mind that this guy is the goods so whatever needs to happen to ensure he succeeds and speed up the process to us getting there i'm all about...and if philbin is setting that back then he can go too...

Charles Clay fits but you can't get too greedy with him. Downfield his hands, instincts and body control aren't much better than Mike Wallace. Too much klutz. He's hardly a prototype tight end so stop using him that way. You have to utilize him like Tulsa did, moving him around and creating space. He can be lethal if he's snagging the ball 5-10 yards downfield on the loop.

After Keller's injury we tried Clay as a standard tight end and it flopped. Once we got back to using him to fit his strengths there was a considerable payoff. But now we seem to have amnesia or stubbornness.

Clemons is better. He quietly improves every season. Not special but you can win with him.

I have to say my offseason list wasn't bad, in the thread asking for the most overrated and underrated players on the team. I named Javorski Lane and Reshad Jones as most overrated, and Charles Clay and Dan Carpenter as most underrated. I qualified by saying I realized Carpenter would be cut in favor of Sturgis, but that Carpenter was under appreciated around here, and would go on to succeed elsewhere due to his excellent mechanics.

Like what Clay, Odrick, have developed into. Starks and big Paul S are beasts.
