Simply put:
The first team Miami DLine is NASTY . . . the rooks Merling and especially Langford look like MONSTERS. I know Vonnie will start on the Line . . . but I can see why they want him at OLB . . . because Merling/Langford . . to go along with Fergy damn sure impressed me.
Henne was the most impressive of the QB's tonight, but Beck was ok as well . . .they both did things that I liked . . . but nod goes to Henne for leading us to both FG's.
McCown . . man I know he was with 4 rookie WR's and a rookie RB . . . and a 3rd string Line . . . to which I don't even know the 2nd string line . . so imagine the 3rd string . . . but he looked BADDDD. Me personally I wouldn't waste reps on the guy, because with Chad P here . . . we have our vet QB.
Lord get us some WR's . . . because that will kill the development of these QB's if we don't have a consistent pass catching threat . . our RB's will be our best WR's this year at this rate . . . guaranteed.
Overall we could NOT stop Tampa's short pass game. The first string D could . . . but once we got the reserves in . . .there was less pressure and those short passes killed us all night. I don't have the numbers . . . but it would not suprise me if Tampa had us on Time of Possession 40 minutes to 20 minutes . . . or something like that . . . they had some long drives.
Dan Carpenter . . . we might as well keep this kid, because man a 40+ yarder off the dirt and a 49 yarder . . . better kickoffs than Feeley . . . he may win the job . . seriously.
I said it in the chat room . . . but please sign Ricky long term NOW . . that man was bouncing off of tackles and welcoming contact like I have never seen him before . . . we definitely can take our time with Ronnie if Ricky plays like that.
Speaking of Ronnie, u can tell he has a while to go . . . but it was good none the less to see him touch the ball . . . we know what the man can do when healthy, he may be almost there physically . . . but you know his mentals may not be there after that kind of injury . . . scared to do the things he would normally do.
Overall, I would have liked to see more of Beck. His last series . . . he was moving the team . . . unfortunately the drive stalled when a screen got blown up I believe and he dirted the ball . . . and then a batted pass . . . but he was starting to move the ball. Hard to do when the D can't stop Tampa on offense and Tampa eats up clock.
Looking forward to game 2.
