The guys is a liability at this point on PR and rightly so Jarvis is taking his snap. On KR Drake is showing more with limited opportunities. If he can't be effective and trustworthy on Special Teams then what's his role on the roster?

I'm interested to see how he can contribute on offense. Like maybe use him on an end around or something.

Funny you started this thread cause I've been thinking about it too. He's pressing right now and if we keep on putting him back there he's going to cost us a game. He's talented but he can't be trusted right now. Dropping a pass is bad but droping a punt can cost us a lot.

We need his wow factor ability to possibly do some damage against Baltimore. With Baltimore's great defense we need all the help we can get on special team. Unfortunately he's been a bit like Russian Roulette lately.

We just need to be patient with him. It would be foolish to cut him, as he's shown he can make plays. Just needs more coaching and getting his confidence back to where it needs to be.

Just continue to develop him and let him contribute where he is comfortable.

hes a rookie, the best you can hope for is for him to rebuild his confidence...i think at this point the drops hes had have gotten in his head. Hes explosive with the ball in his hands (when he does catch it), so i wouldnt consider cutting ties with him or anything drastic like that. He just needs some work and needs to regain his confidence in his abilities. I really think the drops have gotten in his head, remember how devastated he was after he muffed that one punt and san diego recovered on our 6 yard line?

I also think, maybe not this season, but next year possibly...start giving him some reps on offense. If you can get the ball in his hands in space he is deadly. Im not saying to take away snaps from anyone else but design some plays or packages that utilize his skill set and playmaking abilities. His speed is unreal and hes extremely shifty. Yes, hes small and light, but, that speed is absolutely deadly.

So basically i wouldnt make too much about his recent struggles now. If in another year or 2 he isnt contributing on special teams and he isnt getting on the field on offense because of drops then you have to consider moving on because he would be a waste of a roster spot. But at this point in time hes a rookie who has hit a rough patch and i wouldnt jump the gun or blow it out of proportion just yet.

Im also not saying that the drops arent concerning but in my opinion im willing to continue to give him a chance because that is rare elite speed and he has shown he CAN make plays when he DOES hold onto the ball.

I believe this is what Gase thinks also, for now anyway, but if mental lapses continue into next year...

Gase said in the presser today after the game he will be back there again next week.

I'm watching this kid with KC #10 Tyreek Hill and he looks like at J.Grant clone to me. They are sending him on fly patterns, end arounds etc allowing him to get in space and try and create plays. When are we going to attempt some vertical stuff with Grant?

except the whole gun is loaded....lol....I don't want to cut the kid. He will come around but right now is in his head and it's going to cost us.

I just don't think they have the confidence in him yet, either to catch it or be on same page as the QB, and you have to take another player off the field.

Reading between the lines I think that's the feeling of the staff at this point.

Jakeem is high risk, potential high return. Kenyon Drake has safer hands and is also an athlete and Darren Rizzi knows it. Jakeem needs to excel at training because he's been a bit of a liability in recent games.

He has the same issue now as in training camp as in college.

He is unreliable catching the ball.

Let him develop. BTW he had a very nice sealing block on Drake longs KR return. Even though he didn't make plays that showed up in the stat sheet. he still made a nice play or two that will probably go unnoticed.
