why cant we just get rid of this guy (ricky williams). hes been nothing but trouble since that 1800 yard season. and besides he always seemed to have ball security issues. lets swap him for a pick or cut him so we dont end up having to count on him ever again

just give it time, he'll wander off to 7-11 eventually

Why cut him when he is playing on a base salary? He can still be productive and be an insurance incase RB gets injured again. I dont think we could trade him for a pick because of his situation with the league. We could pry out a sixth rounder from the Raiders but thats my only bet just because they have Al Davis. Ricky has taken a lot of carries but has missed significant time in the last three or four years so his body is rested. Ricky is arguably the most gifted running back we have had in this organization and is one of the most gifted/talented ever to play the position, why get rid of that when he is basically playing for free.

I say we give Ricky his last chance. They rushed him back last year. I think the guy is naturally gifted in the RB position. Play him heavy in the preseason games if he looks decent and some team loses a RB well get a 4th rounder for him. Right now he isnt worth much:D

he's playing for base salary... once an athlete always an athlete.... he did well in canada (albeit its canada) but i mean he has the skills... why not just keep him on the roster for cheap... hopefully he'll stick around for all 16 games... and like people have said he's as cheap an insurance policy as their is...

His value in trade is much lower than his potential production. At this point we hafta try and get whatever we can for him cuz he cost us soo much over the years.

You can't really get anything for him though. I rather have him stay here and be an insurance because if we get rid of him and Ronnie gets injured, Lorenzo would be the featured back in Ronnie's absence. You dont want a 5'10 190 pound back taking all the carries. We let go Chatman so he is out of the picture obviously. Cobbs is unproven. That only leaves you Lorenzo who is unproven and too small to take the load. Also, Booker is better fit for the slot position anyway, imho.

what happens when ricky has to step up and he gets hurt.. again!

The scenario of a teams top two Running Backs going down is unlikely but incase it does, there are always FA's that are left over from teams after training camp due to cap reasons. You can bring them in for the time being but again that is an unlikely scenario. I know your going to say it happend last year but he was coming back from a period of inactivity and was not in "game" shape. I would expect him to be in top shape come football season this year.

I am not convinced Ronnie Brown will go 16 games without getting injured. I thought in the 1st half of the season Ronnie played some of the best RB I have seen in over 25 years of watching the Dolphins but I hope Ricky decides he wants to play football this year. He might come in handy. I like Lorenzo Booker a lot but I don't see him running between the tackles all day.

because he is playing for practically nothing. Why would you just cut a guy with that talent that isnt even hurting your cap at all. He still is a good RB, esspecially with Ronnie as the starter and he might not be ready. you arent gonna get any good draft picks for him so keep him and play him.

Ditto.

I also think there is no point in trading him at this point for a few different reasons:

1. He has little to no trade value. We wouldnt be able to get more than a 6th round pick for him if we were lucky.
2. He isn't costing that much with his cap number being so small.
3. When he is healthy and committed, Ricky has tremendous up side.
4. Ronnie cant carry the ball evey play the whole season, plus with a legitmate backup, Ronnie's wear and tear will go down and ultimately help him be more fresh for longer in the season.

Trade him before he ends up hurt or high again.
