What We Can Learn From Trent Green

When the Chiefs acquired Trent Green in 2001, I wasn’t immediately overjoyed. In fact, you could say I was downright angry about the trade. The source of my ire is now quite embarrassing.

I had grown attached to Elvis Grbac. Now he had left the building at One Arrowhead Drive, and I was acting like a jilted lover. What would I do with my #11 and #18 jerseys? Why had the Chiefs dumped a quarterback who was just starting to pay dividends (fun fact: Green never matched Grbac’s best single-season touchdown output) on the field ?

Nice post. Hopefully Beck will learn this and many other lessons from Trent.

I find it amazing that he is not only still wanting to play, but still wanting to lead and teach. I read all kinds of things on how he was giving pointers to Beck thru training camp. I was a bit worried, because I had also read something before the trade happened on how he was not willing to be a tutor to Croyle at KC, but I think he just wanted out of there because he knew he did not fit into Herm Edwards system, but fit very well into Cam's.

I hope we get one good year out of him and that he is a decent tutor for Beck. If that happens I will be pleased.

Id love to have a QB that can actually scramble sometime in the near future. Maybe Vince Young wants a warmer climate lol

Pretty good post.

Sad part is, no matter how tough and resolved we are, our bodies finally wear down. There was another Dolphins QB that fit your post just perfect, unfortunately, he waited too long to retire and looked human out there his last few years.
