The 49ers' 5-1 shows us what an exceptional head coach can do for a franchise, even in a short period of time.
The Colts have shown us the importance of a franchise QB, and how such a player can lead a team to consistent 12-4/13-3 records, competing for the Super Bowl year-in and year-out, but that team may be 0-6 without him. In other words, a franchise QB alone can be the difference between competing for the number one seed and being the first team eliminated from playoff contention.
Put simply, we need to get an exceptional head coach and a franchise QB this offseason. No ifs, ands or buts about it (And no ridiculous talk about trading down for a couple extra garbage picks; if anything we will need to trade up!). The best options available are Cowher and Luck. Cowher will be determined to become the first head coach in league history to win a Super Bowl with two different franchises. Luck is the top prospect since Peyton Manning. Let's get them both and turn this franchise around! No excuses! Brady is getting up their age, so we can take back the division within two or three years with Luck/Cowher leading the way!
