Minnesota: Vikings GM praises Williams

Big draw: TE Maxx Williams
Don't forget: LB Damien Wilson
Notable attendees: Minnesota Vikings GM Rick Spielman and head coach Mike Zimmer; scouts from the 49ers, Ravens, Bills, Bengals, Browns, Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs, Dolphins, Falcons, Jaguars, Lions, Packers, Panthers, Patriots, Rams, Raiders, Seahawks, Steelers, and Titans; Atlanta Falcons DT Rashede Hageman also stopped by his alma mater.
The skinny: The latest in a long line of top-tier Gophers running backs, David Cobb, was not the star of the show Monday; he elected not to work out at the event while dealing with a lingering quad injury. As a result, Williams was the one most scouts had their eyes on. He elected to stand on his combine numbers and focus on drills, where he impressed those on hand, particularly Spielman. Wilson did the same, and that offered a chance for safety Cedric Thompson to turn heads by running an unofficial 40-yard dash in the 4.4 range with a 40.5 inch vertical jump.

Tennessee-Chattanooga: Lott absent with illness

Big draw: DT Derrick Lott
Don't forget: LB Davis Tull
Notable attendees: 22 NFL teams sent a representative
The skinny: Lott failed to show up because of an illness, according to NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt. That allowed those in attendance a better look at Tull, who looked good in positional drills despite dealing with a hamstring injury.

Troy: Receiver posts blazing 40

Big draw: OL Terrence Jones
Don't forget: WR Chandler Worthy
Notable attendees: 11 NFL scouts
The skinny: Despite some damp conditions, there was a solid outing from the top Trojans prospects on Monday. Jones could be an undrafted free agent and had a decent day, but it was Worthy who stole the show. He reportedly ran an unofficial 40-yard dash of 4.34 and was able to look sharp during agility drills. That's a head-turning time by Jones that could earn him some additional looks.

if maxx williams opted to stand on his 40 that pretty much means he's a late 4.7's guy...as that speed and at just under 6 ft 4 i don't think you can validate a top 20 pick here

Prob not hoops, but in the late second around our pick he's a value pick imo. Lot of nice traits with that kid. He'll go before that to a TE Needy team though, so it's moot.

Jordan Reed was a 4.7s guy iirc. You just don't want to be a 4.85 guy, that's slow.

While 40 times do tell some about a player for a te it really is over rated. Plenty of te have run 4.7 and some even 4.8. A guy like heath miller who has had a very solid career ran mid 4.8s. Very rarely does a te run deep routes. More important is the shuttle time which will tell you more about short area bursts which is a very valuable thing for a te
