Sorry if this has been covered, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I was at a bar for the game today, (with no sound), and we couldn't figure out what the Bills were challenging or trying to get out of that punt that was reviewed in the early 4th. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken they were challenging that Jason Allen stepped out of bounds and was the first one to touch the ball.....appernatley that is considered illegal.....

The problem I had was that I thought it was not a challengable call.....how can you challenge a penalty????

Someone needs to email the NFL network and have Mike Perriera explain that one to us....

It's not like they could have came back and said that after reviewing the play the player touched the ball illegally and therefore it is a penalty....if that's the case, we should've challenged the Goodman PI call which was bull!

You can challenge certain calls. They were challenging whether he stepped out of bounds first before touching the ball because you can't go out of bounds and be the first person to touch the ball. They were saying he stepped out first then touched it.

So what would have been the outcome should the play have been reversed?

Ya they wanted a rekick because they got the ball at the two.You can challenge "factual" penalties like was he or wasn't out of bounds but not "judgement" penalties, ie. holding, pass interference. What I am wondering right now is where does intential grounding fit in? I have to think its reviewable.

ACTUALLY...they challenged if he was out of bounds at the time the ball hit him, not if he went out and was the first to touch it
