I've got a quick question for you all. Do you all think Pat White will be a contributor to the Fins now or in the future (at all)? I hear people talk about converting him to wide receiver, or cutting him. I'm not sure how he will handle next season especially with a concussion under his belt. I'm thinking he might be more timid. We've all seen players shy away from contact for fear of another injury after suffering a concussion. Chambers never seemed the same after suffering his....just wondering if the same will happen to White. We haven't seen the effects since it occured during the last game of the season

yes, as long as he is on the team they will give him something to do. Maybe the concussion will force them to make him throw more.

Pat White is a great guy with great heart. But he is not a football player. He was brought in as a wrinkle for the wild cat. a formation i dont think we will use often in the future. I dont even think we could trade the kid for anything. Hes a liability. Cant throw the ball. He was great in the senior bowl last year but thats college football. Not the NFL.

3rd string qb.............for another team

There's really only 1 option that I can see.

They will very quietly, verrrry quietly start giving him reps at WR during the OTAs.

I can't see them trading or releasing him after just one season & there can be absolutely no doubt in anyone's mind that Thigpen is and will always be a much better option at QB.

Remember we picked up Thigpen after the draft. If we had him before that I seriously doubt we would have wasted that pick on white.

we wont use the wildcat anymore? Wow thats our identity guys... The wildcat has brought nothing but success to us...we brought it back.. we are innovative.. Players around the league recognize we mastered it...of course theres more to it... IE Josh Cribbs mentioned it in his interview with WQAM.. anyhow..as long as we are still using the wildcat we will be needing players to run it...

It brought us Pat White in exchange for a second round pick. I would not call that a success.

I'm not sure that they will want to use him in the wildcat anymore.

If opposing teams know that he can be laid out with a hit, and that he isn't likely to run, he won't be anywhere near as effective. Besides the obvious fact that the guy can't throw the ball very well.

Thigpen is better at that too.

Nobody in their right mind would use White as a back-up QB if Thigpen was signed.

The wildcat was a great way to get Ricky and Ronnie on the field at the same time, and it is a very effective running formation, but if Henne continues to develope I don't see it being used as much as before. Its a great change of pace and in the red zone, but we are getting better as a team on offense so it isn't needed as much as before IMO...

I wonder if we can get Cribbs from Cleveland, that would add explosiveness to our special teams and our wildcat. the guy is very underrated on offense

White really didn't have an impact this year although the memory of the Pitt hit left one. How many QB's not drafted early 1st rd do anything their 1st year? Give the kid some time - However I think his success is in a slash type of role. He looks so quick I could see him having success as a 3rd down or hurry up offense type of back/wr. You could run the wildcat with him, line him out wide, or as a back and run him out to the flat.

It would be tough to have a LB cover him. Now is that the plan or do they really think he can be a QB. I don't see that role - way too small. Look at what Sproles and Cribbs and guys like that can do - big play makers. This kid might have that potential.

No idea why the story of Pennington wanting to return even as a back up to Henne was moved.....................but

Best thing that could happen for us is Pennington returning for another year. Even though I would make it a real open area, I would put Henne in is the starter if he is even close to Pennington. Then we have Thigpen and Pennington fight it out for #2.

Pat White will then have to man up in a real QB competition. He can try to make it as the 3rd QB but when/if he is beaten out he will hopefully see he needs to make it as a WR etc. If he does not see it then I hope our coaching staff has the balls to tell him to switch or be cut.

He can still come in and play "whatever" even as listed as a WR/PR although I think that Thigpen can do a better job as a Wildcat/Spread QB.

I think the Pittsburgh game showed us just how low White's ceiling is as an NFL QB. Ronnie Brown completed more passes last season. Thigpen is much better than he is and he should have been the #2 QB all along. If Pennington agrees to re-sign as a backup to Henne, that would probably spell the end of the White experiment. If White can't move to a Cribbs type role, he'll probably be cut/traded. Just an awful selection for the 44th spot.
