Is Bell healthy? Jason Allen should also start at safety.

Will Leahan start or be a nickle back?

How good is Fergunson?

Fergunson, Holliday, rookie (Dorsey?), Taylor, Crowder, Porter and Torbor?

Is this good enough to stop the run?

I like what we are doing, building a good special team, we have the running game, now we have to STOP the running game and then go on.

Well it's a bit of an empty response since the draft is going to have a major impact on this, but at the moment, here's what I'd say is our starting lineup:

WR: Wilford, Ginn
TE: Ryan (soon to be replaced by a draft pick)
T: Carey, DraftPick
G: Smiley, Mormino? (soon to be replaced by a draft pick)
C: Satele
QB: McCown (competing with Beck and possibly another drafted QB)
FB: Mauai (by default because he has no competition yet)
RB: Brown (Ricky Williams as his backup and Lorenzo Booker as our 3rd down back)

DE: Vonnie Holiday, Randy Starks (unless Starks backs up Ferguson at NT then Rod Wright)
NT: Jason Ferguson (probably with Paul Soliai and/or a rookie backing him up)
OLB: Joey Porter, Jason Taylor (unless he's traded which is a distinct possibility)
ILB: Torbor, Channing Crowder (blech, non-impact LB, not a playmaker and will be replaced, it just may not be this season)
CB: Will Allen, DraftPick (honestly, we're too thin at CB to not draft a good one in this CB deep draft)
S: Jason Allen, Yeremiah Bell (until he gets injured which is inevitable ... then we're F*(%ed because there aren't any good FA safeties and this draft is horrible at safety)

As you can see there's a lot of positions where rookies are not only competing for a starting spot, they're expected to start even before they're drafted, like tackle, guard and cornerback. We'll have a much better sense of things after the draft though.

Hope that helped. :)

Looks good, but why does everyone keep saying Wilford will be #1?

I really think Ginn will win the #1 reciever job

let's not start "this" again....dude, #1 and #2 receiver is in the eye of the beholder...there really isn't such thing as any.

it is a perception and a name that the "onlooker" calls the receiver that receives the most passes/attention from the QB and/or opposing defenses. period. that's it. that can change back and forth throughout a season depending on which team your playing and what "that" team deems the main WR "threat" and how they defend against them. that's all.

Ginn will be #1 in some teams eyes, while Wilford will be #1 in other teams eyes. Or it can even change from one half to the other...depending on who's scorching you. The argument is seriously a dumb one. sorry. no pun intended against you...just that in general it is.

Actually, Charles Godfrey, who played CB last year, is an excellent safety prospect and may be available with the first pick in the 3rd round.

At 6'1" 207 lbs. he has nice size.

He also has 4.3 speed although he didn't run well at the combine. 4.45 I think, which isn't slow by any means, but he was expected to run a faster time.

Godfrey is also considered the best special teamer in this years draft and he did have five interceptions last year.

He has experience playing S at the collegiate level as well.

His instincts have to be better than J. Allens.

So right now the holes are:

1. TE
2. 1 NT
3. 1 Tackle
4. 1 corner back
5. 1 Guard

We could also go after 1 safety, 1 WR, 1 QB and 1 LB on the draft.

Lets say we go after Dorsey in the first round, we still need 4 more spots in need of starters, 1 tackle, 1 guard 1 corner back and 1 tight end.

What should we do in our second round?

I think Rod Wright will see a lot of action at end. He's not big enough to cover both A gaps. And he was a 1st round grade in college b4 the injury. He gets better every year. I also hate to talk about players not on the team yet, but I think Chris Long and Porter will be the OLB's. In today's NFL, only 3 positions are worth 35 mil guaranteed: QB, LT, and a pass rusher on D.
