Let's assume San Fran doesn't get the #1 pick.....let's say 2nd or 3rd....with Alex Smith already in the fold and no shot at Bush they seem a potential trade target to grab a franchise type QB in Leinart.....What would it take??

Ricky, our 1st and our 2nd?
Ricky our 1st and a 1st in 2007?
Would they possibly want Madison??
I can see them wanting Ricky as none of their backs (Gore possibly) can take the pressure off of Smith quite like Ricky can as a feature back.......

I think it is POSSIBLE to get Leinart I just wonder how much it would cost

thoughts????

I don't know if we want Leinart ?? Is he the best candidate out there ?? He has an adequate NFL arm but isn't accurate on the deep ball...We have one of those already ?? Players and picks just might be too much to give up on someone who might be the answer....

dont know if I want Matt that bad to give up Ricky....and a 1st round pick

I am not big on Leinart but if Saban really wanted the guy I would be happy if he offered Madison RW and our first. I don't want to give up picks because Saban makes great draft picks so I rather give up players!

I'm not sure his arm is just adequate but that is the same stuff they exposed about Drew Brees and added his height as major drawbacks...we would kill for that guy.....I can't guarantee Leinart will solve the problem but he is probably the best college QB of ALL TIME in terms of accomplishments, numbers and wins. He does have a crazy cast around him but he is leading the band....time and again I see teams pass on obviously talented college players because they don't MEASURE well--Brees, Zach Thomas, Tatupu, et al...when it is obvious by watching them play that they are superb football players....Ricky is expendable and so is our pick if we swap it with San Fran....if they gave us Leinart for Ricky and our 1st only I would jump at it........

I'm a huge Leinart fan, but whatever it takes to move up is going to be ridiculous. I say we stay put and see if Cutler falls to us.

From where Miami will be picking, I'd estimate this would be necessary:

2006 1st
2006 2nd
2007 1st
2007 2nd
2008 1st

Before anyone balks, check what the Giants gave the Chargers in the Manning deal.

Matt Leinart will be the next Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch, Heath Shuler, He will not be a Top QB.

No need to get desperate ala Wanny/Spielman... good QBs available later in the round and even in later rounds.

Yeah...that is what I thought....moving up when the other team KNOWS you are going to draft a QB adds on at least another 1st.....don't think we can throw nearly that many chips into the pot....but certainly I would rather give up our 1st and ricky and even another pick for Leinart as opposed to stabbing at a middle round QB who wouldn't be a difference maker for us....

Forget About Leinart!!!

I'm not quite happy of getting rid of a NFL proven player like Ricky, give away 2 picks to get Leinart!!! it doesn't make any sense.... Did you see anything in Alex Smith?? is that what you want for our Fins???:fire:
