A big name head coach who has total control over over personnel or hire a big time GM who has total control over personnel and let him hire the head coach? I think I would rather have Ross hire a GM and let him hire the head coach. Maybe hire someone from the Ravens front office to be the GM. They seem to always draft well.

Rather have an Ozzie Newsome, Tommy Thompson type clone, and let him aseemble the pieces..... the Mike McCarthy's, John Haugaughs, Raheem Morris's and Mike Smiths will fall into place if the new guy has a grip.
I want a GM and coach that can work together to put a team together. While they were called the Trifecta, I'm under the impression that Parcells really overruled Ireland and Sparano on a lot of things... or atleast Ireland because I'm beginning to believe more and more that Sparano is nothing more than a yes man.
Mike McCarthey and Ted Thompson have been so successful because they work together. And even now with just Sparano and Ireland, I don't really feel Sparano works with Ireland to construct the team. Again, if reports are true, Ross wants to get a true franchise QB, but some of the moves Ireland has made fit the type of player he liked as a scout in Dallas while not really going with the type of coach Sparano is.
We failed with Wanny/Spielman because Wanny never listened to his scouts. Saban drafted based on guys he coached against/for or recruited. Mueller threw darts at a board, and This past regime used an outdated way of thinking.

I am in line with you guys that we need to bring in the absolute best GM/President possible who then puts the entire staff, including coach, into place. Huizinga had the right idea with Parcells but just chose the wrong guy. We really need someone who can settle the ship and steer it in the right direction. We have an owner who has plenty of money and apparently wants to win, we just need a staff that can help him achieve that.
