He was under Ireland right? I just don't get the big support for him, but I don't know enough about him to judge either way. Just wondering why he's so high on everyone's list.

He's not Jeff Ireland. 
Being a little selfish here, but he gets me my tix every year when I come down for a game. He's my buddy's old college roommate.. Just think what I'd get if he's the actual GM!!! For real tho, I want the best qualified guy for the job. I'd like to think as another poster wrote, 'he is not Jeff Ireland'..
I don't have specific details as to why he's respected around the league but that's what is being reported. Take it for what it's worth I guess.

Me either. It is just nepotism with the homers around here. There is nothing he has done that they can point to. It is just like Philbin. They like him for "feel good" reasons, but there is nothing as far as the X's and O's of football they can point to.

That's the drawback. Though we know he was instrumental in finding Wake it's hard to say how much influence he had on draft picks.

I do agree that I want someone with his focus on talent evaluation...let Aponte deal with the money side of things (I think we are stuck with her for now anyway...)
But, if Wake is the only thing...and he was fully in the middle of all the low-quality players we have got while Ireland was here....I want no part of him!
It's a coin toss IMO, look at what everyone thought Parcells was, did nothing but hurt us. Be it a young guy or old and respected, just get someone who still has fire in the tank and wants to make a name for himself.

Well..to be honest..how can you know what he has done. His job was to create packages of information for Ireland to make decisions with. How do you know..he didnt scout a particular player and Ireland went in another direction. All you can go by is reputation...
