Not trying to be a smart a**, but I saw that we brought him in for a workout and was really excited because I remember hearing a lot about this kid before the draft. I went to watch some highlights from the kid while he was at Oregon and I was not overly impressed. I remember him being one of the best RB prospects in his class, and if not for his injury was a sure fire 1st rnd pick.

I saw a good running back with enough shiftiness to navigate through the line but not likely to get passed the 2nd layer of D. And it also didn't really appear that he has "finishing speed", the kind to break one for 6 from anywhere on the field. Nothing really elite. Can someone enlighten me please.

I think that people are excited because his name isn't "Daniel Thomas"

And he did have some nifty runs in college..

Yea that's a nice play, in college. But it has a 0% chance of happening in the NFL. I'm just looking at his skills and trying to see how they would translate into the big leagues, I just don't see it with him

He's a better RB than Daniel Thomas.

And he can contribute on special teams (he's a good kick returner and punt returner).

If he can catch with that speed then he would find a roll on this team, we need help on special teams and we need a RB that can catch out of the backfield.

He kinda reminded me of Mark Higgs when he came out of college. Some times backs that small need a couple years to find their playing weight. Even Higgs was bounced around the league a few years before we got him. I think James could be a productive back in this league. Certainly better than Danielle Thomas.

He hasn't really been productive. What kind of speed does he have (e.g., 40 time)?

4.45 at the combine....

As far as to why is he special...he's not really, but he is a RB, somewhat familiar with the system, and the team is dealing with injuries...sometime you have to bring in guys just to see if anything is there...

if it's for returns i'm interested if it's to play rb ehhh....he'll bounce everything wide and get run over in pass pro

although if chip kelly isn't interested not sure we should be...especially as a rb...then again he's got mccoy and sproles so .................

Can he catch the ball out of the back field? Because that right there seems like more than Lamar Miller can do.

Think 3rd down back/ special teams. This would be a smaller faster version of Thigpen to be honest.

To me this is a case of, 'If he's ever going to make it, it will be in a system like this.' Wouldn't be surprised if he's more effective than L. Miller in this system.

Either way, we look to be in trouble without Moreno.
