boston dropes weight to avoid injury to his over sized body and what happens he blows his knee , now chester dropes a ton of weight also to avoid injury and lo and behold blown out knee. is it me or is there something wrong with this picture? anybody heard when tim bo is expected back ? herniated disc can be carear ending.:shakeno:

Had one. It's not fun. Incidentally, as I understand it, DBo didn't tear his ACL, which is the back ligament in the middle of the knee. Boston tore the patellar TENDON which is different from the ligament in that it's partially vascularized (gets blood and in turn can heal itself in many cases). A ligament gets no blood. It can't heal itself, so if you partially tear it, you just deal with the part that's left for good. If you completely tear the ACL, you need to go in and replace it (reattach etc.). Some people don't repair it and can build the muscles around it so much that they are strong enough to compensate, but this is unlikely and IMO unwise. The surgery that Chester will have is grueling. And the Rehab is even worse, but it is possible to completely rebuild the strength there.

great insight -- one thing tho - the surgery that chester is having is actually not grueling at all. Its ver easy - the problem with ACL surgery is not the tendon healing - but rebuilding the muscle that you lose (or atrophy) that is the most difficult and the longest part of the rehab. The reason willis mcgehee was able to "return" so soon after surgery was because he had minimal muscle atrophy. The problem with chester is that he is already a big guy not necessarily very muscular and he might have more trouble (longer rehab) regaining his stregnth. The thing with Bowens is going to take time, rest and rehab are crucial -- making sure the muscles in his back are loose are also very critical to his returning to play.
