I thought that Minkah and his legal team had trademarked the phrase, essentially limiting its use to all things related to him. Yet ESPN and others have constantly promoted tonight's game as The Steelers going up against Fitzmagic and the Bucs???? What's the legal outcome here, if anybody knows.

Trademark is just for merchandise, I believe.

The fake Fitz-magic has run out. Back to a below average starting QB.

They just filed for it a couple of weeks ago lol it takes time

The intellectual property pertaining to the use of the phrase "Fitzmagic" as associated with NFL player predates Minkah entering the NFL, and has for a long time been associated with Ryan Fitzpatrick. I see no way he can enforce his intellectual property rights against the media or Ryan Fitzpatrick and prevail. Only in narrow segments can he protect that right, IMHO.

I'll take Gerald McCoy, heres hoping TB loses a few in a row.

Also its strange how many more targets Juju has than AB.

I think the Buccaneers quarterback has recently decided to change his name… during the game tonight

at first he decided on pickpatrick...
But a bit later thought
Picksixpatrick was flashier

Wow this game is gonna go down to the wire. Id like to see someone shut the door on Pittsburgh.

Not a fan of TB or Fitzpatrick obviously but i kind of want to see the drama that will likely follow once douche bag is back.

He was using it since high school so can still argue he had it first if it was first.

Trademarks exist to protect brand recognition - so people don’t refer to generic adhesive bandages as “Band-Aids” or routine photo editing as “Photoshop”.

He did just file it and it takes a lot of time, not like a patent pending. He’s going to have a hard time with this one as the phrase has been used in public knowledge long before he became a household name so to speak.

Alright, end boring graphic designer rant.

He can certainly argue that … but he did not defend it then, and Fitzpatrick has been associated with it for years before Minkah even applied.
