Hey folks, Bears fan here just looking for info on one of my favorite college players. Ted Ginn was one of those explosive college players whom I thought would be unstoppable in the NFL. I know that QB issues and not having a dependable QB prior to Pennington probably hurt his development, but a quick scan of the boards seem to suggest that he's thought of as a #2 rather than a #1 receiver.

I'm just wondering what the general consensus is. Good luck on the season, and for Gawd sakes please beat New England.

In a era of Andre Johnson's, Fitzgeralds, and Moss's a player like Ted Ginn does go underappreciated, hence the reason he is considered a true number 2 wideout then 1. He has the speed, hands, and explosiveness to be a good receiver but he isnt physical enough, and with his body type(tall and skinny) he probably will never turn into a "all" wideout threat if you will. The fact is he has been growing each year and if it continues he will be a great contributer in this league.
While Chad has been amazing here, and pretty much won our forever gratitude, he wont be able to use Ginn's greatest weapon: the vertical threat. He just doesnt have the velocity to sling it out there like your Cutler.

That being said if you want to see examples of Ted Ginn's potential(even with Pennington throwing it) go to NFL.com, go to video's, hit the team option for Miami Dolphins, and go see highlights from week 8 against the Bills. We were able to use Ginn's speed to find openings in the defensive and he had a career day.

And about the pats, we're on it buddy

Dolphins: Ted Ginn ready for a breakout?

I think this article by Dave Hyde pretty much sums up Ted Ginn career here in Miami.

Lost his rookie year?

"Oh, yeah,'' Ted Ginn Jr. said. "Didn't know nothing. Didn't know the coverages. Didn't know exactly what to do. I thought I knew everything coming in, because I did a good job at the college level."

Improved his second year?

"Yeah, you start adjusting to the system, to the coverages,'' he said. "That makes you faster. I didn't think I was fast, because it took a while to figure everything out. But I got faster."

Now, before his third year?

"Ready to go,'' he said.

I love Ted Ginn, and his family! I think this is the year we see a major jump. I could see an 80 catch 900-1000 yard season. Even more if Henne comes in. I am not saying Henne should start, so don't go there, but if he does, I think Ginns numbers would go up. Now would the wins go up or down is a debate for another thread.

Can the mods put this phrase in the profanity filter so I don't have to see it anymore? I will DONATE for it.

On topic, Ginn is coming along nicely and a lot of people are looking for him to have a breakout year. The lack of a strong armed quarterback does limit his big play ability. You can only be so explosive on curl routes and out routes. Don't get me wrong, I love Penny but he lacks the velocity to make certain throws. Throws that would make Ginn a more valuable receiver. He's done everything we've asked of him so far and I think he'll have a nice season. Only time will tell whether he's number one material or not. He has to show some improvements in route running, toughness and leadership. I think he can develop into a number one though, when is another question... JMO

I think Ginn can over 1,000 yards receiving this season even with Pennington, especially if Chad does what Parcells wants him to do. Be more aggressive in the passing game. I don't know if you get an old game manager like Pennington to be more aggressive but I'm eager to see if he can.

ted ginn is a good receiver who catches a lot of crud because of who he isn't, brady quinn/ patrick willis. He'll continue to develop and hopefully he will start to produce big plays for us. he'll never be larry fitzgerald or randy moss, but he can also do things those two can't.

Ted Ginn is a hot topic here. As in talk about him people get hot. Ted is a good receiver and he started coming along nicely towards the end. I don't think his strengths and abilities are best suited to our style of play atm though. Pennington is a short to intermediate passer. Ginn isn't the best receiver in that sort of game. The Dolphins value toughness and physicality which isn't his style. He also doesn't get a lot of yards after the catch.

With a different QB and a different situation he could be a star. But either he has get more chances to catch the deep ball and make the big play or he has to strengthen his underneath game more. Also he has to cut down on his fumbles. He's got lots of potential I'm not sure he's in a situation this year to make the most of it.

Someone takes things a little too seriously and can't detect sarcasm.:rolleyes2:

Ginn is a receiver who needs time to build up to his immense speed. he is not a quick twitch type of receiver who is going to juke people. He is a north/south blow-by-you type player if he gets an opening.
