Well i was given a unique opportunity to go to the game this weekend in Nashville and i am so stoked i get to see my Fins play in the heat of the playoff push.
But we have shown some issues with scrambling QB's with the likes of Freeman and Garrard and Young is probably better at it than both. We totally need to spy him and with the way things look on our D it needs to be REGGIE TORBOR he has made plays and just put him in there to spy Young and support on running plays.
My game plan other than a win lol is that we spy young and keep YB closer to the line not stack the box but keep him in a run support position. They are not an elite passing team much like Jacksonville they are good but not great. I way we dont rush upfield that much let the 3 down and one or two extra blitzers go at him but maintain edges and keep CJ in the middle of the field. I think if we spy young so he cant have tons of yards running and keep CJ from getting to the edges we can slow their running game. Their passing game doesnt scare me much they dont have a Sims walker that can burn you and a savvy Holt to get open and we shut those two down minus that ONE catch so teh likes of Nate Washington and Justin Gage dont scare me. I know they will get catches and most likely on plays busted where young scrambles and gets them more time to get open but i do not fear them as a 40+ yard catch kinda guys.
so to recap
1. SPY YOUNG- Torbor IMO would be best for this and let Crowder and the others help in the run and just let torbor keep his eyes on Young.
2. MAINTAIN EDGES- dont sell the farm blitzing rush your guy up the middle and dont let CJ bounce outside to get those extra yards make him go up the middle and earn some yardage.
3. Keep YB in a run support position- Dont stack the box but keep up closer to the line ready to attack they will try to run the ball and we need to stop them like we stopped the Jags.
4. Play that over under coverage much like you did against the Panthers confuse them and force them into mistakes Young isnt the greatest QB and can be confused into mistakes if we can cover up our coverages.
