Based on what you see, when do you believe Miami can be a legit contender to win the AFC? Consider that Peyton and Brady are aging, and Rivers is on the trade block. That leaves Ben, Luck and Flacco as top QB's to beat.

I think they are really close. At times last year they looked like one of the best teams in the NFL. Then the defense and o-line fell apart. I think if you could play last season over again there would be a pretty good chance that team would do better than 8-8. Bad coaching, bad "breaks," unfortunate injuries, whatever. Yeah some of this will occur every year, and every team's fans probably feel the same way. So, I'm not saying the Dolphins got screwed last year, but there will be a time when these kinds of things go our way. That can be the difference between 8-8 and 11-5.

If we can somehow get the defense and o-line to play like they did in the first half last year, plus another year in Lazor's system with Tannehill's expected growth, i think the Dolphins certainly CAN contend this year. Whether they will or continue to "beat themselves" as they seem to have been doing forever remains to be seen.

The lack of depth in this team is bottom of the barrel.

They need a lot to go right and they need to remain healthy.

I don't see us being successful in the Joe Philbin era.

If we draft well the next two years I would say next season. Obviously contingent on getting an alpha wr, og, ilb, db and some depth at db and oline

Probably a couple years after we get rid of Tannenbaum, whenever that is. So... 2020 maybe?

That's what I'd say as well

Also, cop out answer of whenever Brady retires.

I think the Pats and Broncos peaked about two years ago. I know the Pats won the SB, but it was more like the Seahawks lost it. I still think the Seahawks are the best team in the NFC and NFL. Our entire division is tougher so getting a playoff spot will be hard. I think the Jets, Bills and Phins will be better but the Pats are still favored. We should be able to compete for the AFC East, Championship and SB as soon as Tanny gets help on the O-line and we get better play from our linebackers and defensive backs. I think we are around a 9 win team....we need to become a 12 win team to win it all.

I've said this before, but I honestly see us as serious playoffs contenders in 2016 if Philbin at least gets it somewhat right this season. A wildcard berth should get the no-playoffs monkey off their back. From then on, continue to stock up the roster despite possibly losing Grimes and Wake, develop the players around Tannehill and Suh, and I see little reason the Fins cant be a solid, ready team for 2016. Of course, it all depends on Tannehill staying the course though...

The aging quarterbacks are irrelevant. There's always somebody ready to occupy the top tier. Our job is to find 5 or 6 truly special players, enabling the big leap.

If we pretend we can stay here or nearby and merely allow New England and Denver to drop to our level, that's classic Adjuster garbage.

This /\. We need to strike gold in the draft more than once to overtake these top flight teams.

I'm tired of the old "we're two years away" thought process. Now. This year. Because, why not us? Every year a team breaks out and makes a run into the playoffs. If we stay healthy, we belong.
