Searched on the forum and google but can't find the answer. One of my friends told me awhile back that when Shula arrived he got rid of the live dolphin at the Orange Bowl, but I wonder whether that is correct. Anyone know exactly which season was Flipper's last?

Cause after he was stolen by Ray Finkel, they didn't want to risk it.

:)

I'm not exactly sure...

I posted a thread regarding this many months ago. First of all i had a hard time convincing the younger fans here that the dolphin in the endzone was even a true story. It was still at the Orange Bowl during Shula`s tenure as head coach but i`m not sure of the final season. I`m not sure why they even done away with it. One website noted that the dolphin died and they never replaced it but I really dont know if its true.I will continue to try and get the real answer. If I do,i`ll post it.

He was there during Shula!

as I remember, it became a health issue...it just wasn't good for the Dolphin to be transported every game...

If they brought a live Dolphin back, I'm sure PETA would have a word or two to say about it. Support them or hate them, I would have to agree with them in this case if they did object. Here in Colroado I see the Bronco, a Buffalo and a Falcon (Air Force) all used but there isn't really much stress, I wouldn't think, to present those animals. A Dolphin??? That's a whole other story.

Which begs the question...why doesn't San Diego use a giant Tesla Coil, or something, in the middle of the feild to generate some lightning bolts!?!? Imagine night games! Light up the stadium, strike a few fans...now THAT would be cool! Or the Miami Heat can fling flaming baskeballs into the stands! Sweeet!

Edit: In all seriousness, I think it would be cool to have a sort of mini-aquarium at the stadium with a handful of dolphins. Maybe borrow them from the Miami Seaquarium for the season and return them in the off-season.

Useless thread.

What the hell? This is part of Dolphins history, and outside of the ask Boomer thread, one of the best threads this season.

I saw him back when I was in Elementary school.

We had season tickets at the Orange Bowl. It's been so long now, that if it wasn't for that movie nobody around here would even know what you are talking about...

:dolphins:

I like the idea of having an aquarium in Joe Robbie. Not sure where they could put an aquarium big enough for a Dolphin. But would still like to see it.
