When did you know????

Since it is the offseason, I thought I would put this out. When did you first know you were a dolphin fan? Was it a single moment, is it geography related? Was it a player? I know there are some good stories out there especially if you guys are freak fins fans like I am.

My moment came when I was a kid, sixth grade or something but I was watching football and I saw Larry Csonka running down the sideline and the DB had a bead on him. He saw him and switched the ball to his left hand and promptly jacked the dude under his chinstrap!!!!!! The db (probably a Jill I don't remember) went straight to the ground and the ref threw the flag for roughing the defensive back! It was the first time it had ever been called. I laughed my @ss off and decided right then I was a Dolfan for life. Later that year Csonk was leading our boys to an @ss whipping of Minnesota. It actually shows up on the NFL ad. He runs thru 3 Vikes and forearms the last as he's going in the endzone. Csonk what a tough mutha.:dolphins:

Well I came into the world screaming my head off on march in 1979.
A few days later I was brought home from the hospital in a little dolphin shirt, hat and pants.

I was quit durring dolphin games too

you could say I was born for it

Dolphins for life!

Ditto - Except 10 years earlier... Born into this life and wouldn't change it for anything!

I grew up in Miami, but left in 1965, in '67 when the Fins became a team, I immediately became a Fins fan, even tho I did follow the Iggles while living in South Jersey. I move back in 74 after the Air Force and moved away again in 2001, but thanks to Finheaven, it's real easy to stay in touch with the fins progress....

I grew up in New Jersey, and the first football game that I remember watching was Dolphins v. Bills. Actually the first thing that attracted to me to the team was the uniform and colors. I really liked the aqua and orange. I saw Marino throwing passes to the Marks brothers and that's all it took. I've never been to a game, but that will hopefully change next year.

was also born a Dolphins fan (in 1980)...thanks to my good ol' pops...:D

I am originally from chicago, When the dolphins ruined the Bears perfect season in 1985, I was hooked, I thought Dan Marino was a football god. Have followed them religiously ever since.

i knew i was a dolphin fan when i was little...i was in the room while a dolphin game was being played.....i just happen to hiccup while the opposing team scored a touchdown.........my father, who was inebriated(drunk), thought i was cheering.....he began to beat me violently with his belt.....he told me i was a worthless little piece of crap and he wouldnt tolerate any type of trashtalking against his beloved dolphins from anyone, let alone his own son.......so after my swelling went down and my vision returned, i began rooting for the dolphins to avoid any future pain.....and im still rooting

The beatings have left you ******ed....

2 weeks after I turned the impressionable age of 6, the Dophins just so happened to be playing in the Super Bowl. Now, I had seen glimpses of football games before this (mostly Lions, since I grew up in Michigan) and it just looked like a bunch of guys pushing each other around...not very interesting...but this game comes on, and the first player they show strolling on to the field is #13 himself, Dan!!! It didnt mean much at that exact moment, but when the game started, I was actually paying attention to HIM, and not the offensive line (where I got the idea that it was just a bunch of pushing and shoving), and he was exciting to watch. After the first drive on offense, I formed an immediate attachment to Marino and to Duper, and I rooted for them the rest of the game, and even threw a tantrum when they lost and swore that I would hate the 49ers for life. 21 years later, there's no Dan Marino, and there's no Mark Duper. But I still get that same feeling when I catch a Dolphins game, I still get pissy when they lose...and inexplicably I still hate the 49ers. To me, the entire sports world would just seem wrong without the Dolphins in it.

When i was 6 or 7 I remember watching football with my dad and I liked the color of the Phins uniforms. So I started collecting Phins football cards and it was all down hill from there.

Right around my fifteenth birthday my family told me we were moving to Atlanta, and all of a sudden I became extremely attached to everything south Florida related. I even watched a Dolphins game! 21-20 loss to the Texans drew me in, mainly because some dreaded guy had an amazing long run. The next four weeks that team went on to dominate the state of New York beating the Giants, Bills and Jets. Before I knew it, I could name every starter and was among the many cursing Mare for missing those field goals in the sand.

When I was in grade 10, I started watching football more and more. Marino was in the process of making that record breaking season / trip to the bowl with the Marks bros. Nuff said!
