This is a good point. Pat Kirwan made the same point last night on NFL Network. June 1st is the day that teams can start to make cuts for salary cap purposes. But according to Pat, most teams probably will not cut anyone right away as the teams would like to see if the rookies and/or younger players that would then be filling in will be able to perform adequately to allow the teams to let the more expensive players go.Spray Mucus said:today is the day you can start cutting, it isn't the first and last day they can do it.
Most if not all the teams are under the cap, so you probably won't see many cuts. You might see a few veterans getting cut after mini camp if coaches don't think these guys are worth keeping around (more of a football decetion instead of a financial) . Also to make a little wiggle room for their rookies.
But, in no way is it like D-day for vets in the NFL.
Your right, it's not the same. Here is a good article by Len Pasquarelli talking about just that.arsenal said:for some reason i thought june 1st wasn't the same as it was with the new CBA, i could be wrong though
