I say before the 3rd preseason game unless the offensive line gets one of these guys killed in the 1st game, then he makes it sooner. I feel bad for the guy who plays behind the 2nd and 3rd team offensive line.....
 
it would be nice to see it happen as soon as possible this way the #1 gets as many reps as he can before the season opener
 
As far as picking his starter, I think they have already picked McCown, but they won't name him right away for several good reasons.
 
Sure.. they still want competition and guys to push hard... I think the scrmmage is as crucial in determining who will start for the first preseason game.. and I would doubt if we see Henne as a #2 QB at some point of the preseason.
 
It's not an exact science, but usually the guy that starts and gets the most snaps with the first team in the 3rd pre-season game is your game one starter. Most 1st teams won't play more than a series or two in the final preseason game.

Of course, this team may see 3 different starters before this season is over.

They way we're bringing in retreads for tryouts we may even see another QB!:rolleyes2:
 
I think he already has several months ago and just isnt saying that to the media. Although I think Henne has a shot. From what the camp reports make it seem, the guy has the tools to be a solid starter in this league, its just a matter of developement.
 
I think they have a pretty good idea now ut will let the first couple of preseason games play ouy just to reinforce their decision. mcCow, beck Henne at this point but 4-5 games in they would probably go straight to Henne. Unless beck pulls a complete turnaround, I think that ship may have sailed. but we'll see, only an opinion.
