When does Richmond Webb get in the HOF?

I thought about posting the same thing on the Kooch thread. Bruce Smith a first ballot HOF. Please!

I hate the Bills and all....but How can you say Bruce Smith isn't a first ballot HOF'er?

I do agree that Richmond Webb should get in!!!
But Kuch should too and you all see how that's gone.
I was surprised Chris Carter didn't make it.

I just didn't see him as the most dominant player at his position during his years. He was good and probably deserving of the hall. But I just don't think he was a first ballot candidate.

I'm the biggest dolphin fan there is, but I have to tell you that Bruce Smith was absolutely a first ballot hall of fame player and Richmond Webb absolutely is not a hall of fame player. Webb was a little on the overrated side. Dan Marino made him, and everyone else on the offensive line for that matter, look better than they actually were. Richmond Webb was better than average in pass protection and looked week and sometimes lazy as a run blocker. Webb was a good player, not a great player.

I think you need to ask the HOFer Bruce Smith himself then. As quoted by Smith, Webb was THE best LT he ever went against. Webb owned Smith. Webb wasn't in the pro bowl every year by accident. He was the best LT in Dolphin history.

I think Webb gets in the hall no problem.

great RDE's judged by pass rush, saying Webb is not a HOF'er because he wasn't a great run blocker is a double standard

Bruce Smith has the most career sacks so he has to be in the HOF, so why not the guy who stoned him?

BTW, being a pass only team was a help to Webb? whatever

Not a first ballot candidate? not the most dominant at his position? you cant be serious right?
Do you realize that Bruce Smith is the all-time leader in sacks, the all-time leader in double-digit sack seasons, and was the leader of a Bills defense that went to 4 straight superbowls? If thats not dominant I want to know what is.

My take on this is Richmond Webb was a great offensive lineman. But was better as a pass blocker . And he did do a good job against many DE's. I think since Miami never really had a run game back then that might tarnish what he accomplished. And add to the fact that Marino got rid of the ball so fast.

well the truth is most people outside our great cirlce of dolphin fans are not high on any former dolphin player right now . why. because they think the dolphin franchize has always been overrated and has not had but one or two good players on offense and that is it. this is what some outside fans and a majority of national media pundits continue to say .

I think that the hostility from other fans and media will keep any other dolphin player from making it into the hall of fame wheather we like it or not.
if anybody deserves to get in the Hall ; it is O.J McDuffie and the Marks Brothers and while we are on this subject is Mercure Morris in the hall of fame i cant remember ?

Bruce Smith said that because he played against Webb twice a year for most of his career. Webb didn't own Bruce Smith. Bruce Smith made a ton of plays in Miami's backfield against their running game. Smith used to get quite a bit of pressure in the passing game also, but Marino got rid of the ball so fast that he would avoid the sack. Do you think it was a coincidence that Marino had some of his worst games against the Bills? Webb didn't face Smith one on one the whole game either. He used to get help from the guard, tight end, or back sometime also. Pro Bowls are a popularity contest for the most part. Ruben Brown of the Buffalo Bills was selected to eight consecutive Pro Bowls. Does he belong in the hall of fame? Webb was the best left tackle in team history, but that does not make him a hall of famer. I also think Jake Long is going to give Webb a run for his money when it comes to that honor. Webb was a very good player and a class guy on and of the field, but I just do not believe that is enough to get you to Canton.

Bruce Smith was one of the very best players I have seen. He was dominant. Derick Brooks was another. Both deserved to go 1st time in. Put away your blind allegiances to Miami & all the hate for the other AFC East teams.

These two deserve there spot.

Having said that Richmond Webb was up there with Bruce Smith in terms of talent & ability. Hopefully, his turn will come.
