Keep in mind that you are talking about TWO guys who are unproven at an NFL level. Not just one in Henne. If people seriously think that five games are enough to judge the play of an unproven rookie then they need to get their heads examined. I defend John Beck because i think he has to be GIVEN more of a chance in real game situations. I would/will do the same for Chad Henne if he plays poorly when he gets the oppertunity to start.

I dont think John Beck is some all-time great sitting on our roster, but i dont think he's someone who we should just cast aside after only a few games. There are plenty of QB's who struggled early in their careers and turned out to be great/very good players, and plenty who struggled early on and turned out to be awful.

At the same time i dont expect Chad Henne to be a perennial pro-bowler simply because he was a good collegiate QB at Michigan like it seems many people on Finheaven do. But if he is going to be, then lets treat the situation right and give him some time to develop rather than throwing him right into the NFL game.

I dont know why Dolphin fans are so impatient, it's like they expect every new QB to be highly successful very quickly like Dan Marino was. Then when he isn't, they quickly want the next guy to step in. Giving guys a chance is what we need to do. Not condem them after a few bad/mediocre games.

Very well spoken!

Why are you trying to interject logic onto this message board.

I totally agree. Two years ago we were ready to throw Jason Allen under the bus thanks to Saban. Once Saban quit messing him around, the kid started to improve and although he may not be an all-pro yet, he's getting better and better as he goes.

Beck was in a mess last year with Cameron and he really is just like a rookie now (age not withstanding). He needs to get the opportunity under serious coaches like he has now.

I am hoping for BOTH these young guys to make it. IMO it would be nice to have the 1 & 2 settled for many years to come.

It has been said over and over again- countless ways- from the most gifted intellect to the most elementary. And yet it will have to be said again and again and again

You have my thinks but it wont matter

Hey if Copernicus could convince people that the Sun was the center of the Universe, i'm sure we can convince people that five games isn't enough to condemn John Beck and 0 snaps isn't enough to anoint Chad Henne, Dan Marino mark II.

This a very intelligent and thought out thread. I agree with all of what your posting but i believe i have a reason everybody is higher on Henne. I think its because Beck is 28 and everybody expects him to be hitting his stride instead of still being unproven

Age is just a number, with Beck even being 28 years old you're still talking about a guy with very little NFL experience. Guys simply dont "hit their stride" in the first five games of their career, guys at least not named Dan Marino.

Get over it already. Beck HAS BEEN GIVEN OPPORTUNITY!!!

Ok, the guy has had games, he has had practices, he even had SEVERAL MONTHS ALONE with the new coaches during the offseason. He has had his chances to show what he can do. He just dosent impress anyone except a few FH members for some reason I cant figure. Beck BLOWS!!!

Bring in Pennington to start with McClown to back him up. Henne is a real QB that will be the guy in the future. Until then we need Pennington to come in here and help us win some games.

I FOR ONE and TIRED OF LOSING. But, for some reason alot of Beck fans cant seem to get enough of losing. They want him in there to cost us more games for the sake of satisfying their own curiosity about what he can do with a good team. WHO CARES??? We have Henne who we can put stock in as the future, and we know Pennington can play better than Beck in the meantime. Get over Beck already. He blows!!!

Pennington/McCown/Henne!!!!!!!!!!!!:woot:

You're tired of losing, but you want to make the same (exact) mistake this team has made for the past 10 years? Thanks, but no thanks. I'll stick with one of the young guys for now. Let's do this in-house.

1. But how do you KNOW that Henne is what you say he is? He hasn't played an NFL game yet, dont you see the problem with this?

2. I am very tired of losing, which is why i agree with moonman here. Stop the QB carosel and give John Beck a CHANCE. Switching QB's every five games is very counterproductive, and if you disagree look at the results it's given this franchise the last eight years. Practices and workouts dont make PROVEN NFL players, games do.

correction; he's been given limited opportunity. Hardly sufficient to make a reasonable decision regarding his future in the NFL.

Not only did Cam throw beck into a pack of wolves, he did it without giving him the opportunity to succeed. When I found out that Beck had been working with the scout team up until the bye week last year I was flat out astounded. How ridiculous is that?

Here's a guy that you bring in to be the future, and you don't even give him the opportunity to learn the offense and get more comfortable in the system. So. two weeks before he starts you give him a crash course.

the result? You have a young quarterback who isn't ready to play leading his team against two blitz-happy defenses back-to-back. His confidence was rattled and it appears he's just starting to get it back.

Beck essentially is worse than a rookie - he's a guy that doesn't have confidence. If he were fresh out of college he would have performed better (check last year's training camp reports). Once he gets his confidence back, he's the best quarterback on our roster at this moment.

BTW...the Beck debacle is precisely why Henne shouldn't touch the field unless he's completely ready.
