I've been following the Dolphins for at least 40 something years.
I don't think I can remember the last time we had a decent (not even great) offensive line.
The Marino years?
At least over a decade.
How can they not fix the line year after year after year.
Different owners.
Different front Office.
Different Head coaches.
Different Offensive Coordinators.
Different Offensive line coaches.
Number 1 draft picks
Free agents.
Nothing seems to work.
How do other teams just plug and play with lineman and we can't.
Very frustrating!

The issue is talent evaluation.....

It was decent with Jimmy Johnson...not great, but decent. Pass blocking was made to look better than it was with Marino but we also had an OK running game with Adbul-Jabbar...not great. But he wasn't a great back either.

With Jimmy he at least found some undrafted guys and some late round guys who could play on the O-line. Nowadays unless we take them in the 1st they're generally awful and they guys we've taken in the 1st have only been decent. Not world beaters.

I think there was one year with Sparano where they played well. Other than that you have to go to 2002, the first year with Ricky.

Jimmy was a master at finding diamond in the rough and coaching them up. He was a master at trading down and picking up multiple picks to build a team quickly. As far as great Oline, I don't remember ever having one, Marino was so great we could compensate for that.

Last time we had a decent offensive line was in the second half against Atlanta when Pouncey was in the locker room.

Yeah 2008/09 was the last decent line. Then Long started to get hurt and we had issues at Center that lead to the Miami's line declining.

Richie Incognito was probably our last solid NFL guard. Once we got rid of him it has been horrible ever since. Its been over 4 years and we still havent fixed it. Not that it was great then but ever since it has been an absolute joke. Man I hate that little p***y Jonathan Martin

last time we had a great line was back in the 80's when we had Ed Newman, Stevenson and Kuechenburg......even when we had Webb and Simms the line could not run block. They could only pass protect but Marino helped with that. Keep on mind thought that BOTH lines got whipped last night

Ozzy rules!!

I remember Jamie Nails pulling out in front of Ricky Williams and thinking we had a good line then.

This front office keeps thinking they can move old tackles and make them guards and that is our downfall. That or we value a journey man that can play all positions on the line average or below average rather than just getting a guard, who has the mind set of a guard and can actually play the position.
