In what year do you think John Beck will be a full time starter?

I know age is against Beck, but I don't think he will be the full time starter until 2009. I think this is Green's team for at least this season and likely next year. I think Green will play a total of three seasons before retiring and will spend his last season(2009) backing up Beck. Beck will likely see some playing time this season and next, but he won't be the "man" until 2009 imo.

2009?

That far.....I don't think Cam would want to wait that long. I know TG is coming here and all is well...but to sit a 2nd rd pick for 3 yrs may be a little wasteful....IMO...

It's tough to guess on this one ...

If you hope for the best ... it won't be until 2009, because Green would then have very good years in '07 & '08 ...

Realistically, I would say 'sometime' next year -- as I would project Green to get injured ...

I don't want to see Green injured this year [not that I 'want' to see him injured, period] -- as he is clearly the best option / chance for this team to have a successful year !

A lot depends on things we won't know for a while yet. How's the OL? Is the defense holding together? If we're bad and QB is not the problem, Cam will stick with Green. If Green's the reason and Beck looks ready, I don't believe Cam will hesitate to make the change.

Put me down for the home game with Buffalo on November 11 if we have a losing record, and the team seems solid minus Green's play at QB.

09? You realize hes about to turn 26 right? That means that you think he will not become a starter until he is around 30? Thats crazy. We drafted him in the early second round...he better start within the next 2 seasons. If we wait until 09, before you know it we will be talking about how we need to draft another QB because our second round pick is already in his 30's.

Yea...I hear ya. But if Beck is getting better as he is now...He may be a beast next year and the chance for TG to be the starter may deteriate... From what I hear, Beck is picking up the offense very well.... It may be hard to not stop him from being a starter....IMO.

Exactly....

He won't be in his 30s. He would have just turned 28 before the 2009 season starts. If Green starts two more seasons(as I think he will), that means he will be 38 in his final year starting. Age is just a number, and if Beck is just getting started at 28, there is no doubt in my mind he can play at a high level when he is in his mid-30s. I would be happy to have 8-10 years of Beck starting, woulnd't you be also?

2008....With a very small chance after mid 2007.

Where's the option for never?
Funny ...

for 2009 / 29yr old guys think tom brady is 29 now and he did not play good till his 2nd yr as full time starter.so with a similar project beck will be 31-32 when/if he becomes good.

Obviously it's going to be based on Trent's health and production. If Trent is winning games and healthy, then I think he's got a good 2 years in him. If Trent gets hurts at anytime and Beck comes in to start a game while Trent's injured, then I think the Job's his from then on. I see BIG things in Beck's future and once he takes the reigns, I don't see him letting them go.
