Please. If you understand how "free agency" in the NFL works, the odds of Peyton Manning being free to sign with Miami are zero, zilch, nada, nothing, zippo ...

First, the Colts WILL use a Franchise Tag on Manning if worse comes to worse. They will do so, even if Manning throws 8 INT's and they lose 59-0 on Sunday.

Second, they will more than likely sign him long term before that happens. They know the value of Manning and he does as well.

You might as well talk as if you have legitimate prospects at a date with Nicole Kidman or Elle McPherson. Nice to dream about, but it AIN'T Happenin!

Time to wake up now. It's 7:45 and you have an 8:00 class, boys and girls. :D

The Peyton Manning talk here is absolutely ridiculous. We don't have a chance in hell at getting him, yet some posters say it is 50/50 that he comes here. :rolleyes2

The talk will end when he re-signs with indy.......until then he is a UFA
thats exactly right.

besides the colts have done some REALLY dumb things in the past. they traded Marshall Faulk (who came off of a 1300+ yard rushing, and a 900 yard receiving), only to draft Edge.

if they put the transitional tag on him, they'll get 2 first rounders and draft another QB.

The transition tag doesn't give a team compensation, all it does is give a team the option to match any contract that a player signs. The Bengals used the transition tag on Takeo Spikes last year, but when he signed with Buffalo they did not match, and they got no compensation.

Everytime someone mentions a free agent, someone ALWAYS posts that he might sign with us. No matter who it is, I mean it IS possible that anyone can sign here, but for some guys it just won't happen. Peyton is one of them

No, actually smart, motivated people schedule 8:00 classes.

I agree that the Peyton Manning talk needs to cease. He's not coming to the Fins period.

the talk will end when everyone stops talking about it, is that simple. If our team was playing this coming sunday then we wouldn't be talking about something that's NOT going to happen.

Ozzy rules!!

Funny thing is that all this same stuff was said BEFORE we got Ricky Williams. The only thing that doesn't make sense is that if Peyton really wanted to stay in Indy, he would have ALREADY RE-SIGNED!!! He stated before the 1998 draft that he would like to play for Miami or Denver, but that it would be unlikely because of draft positioning for either team. Bottom line is that if Peyton has a dream to play elsewhere, like Miami and if he wants a big time contract that Indy can't afford, we have a "shot" I'd be willing to get rid of some players that we don't HAVE to have. It is still a stretch though.
