I've defended our "new" offensive line on here countless times. Some fans thought we were better off last year and that just baffled me. Is it safe to say that we're pretty solid up front and the gelling process didn't take as long as people thought it would? Offensive Line is a combination of individual battles. Ultimately if you win those individual battles you end up winning the war and yesterday was the first of many victories.

It would baffle me who would say we were better off last season, we addressed oline a lot in fa and draft. But regardless the way to shut up any critic is to kill it on the field and that's exactly what they came out and did... Almost 200 yards rushing and only one sack

It's just one game, I will reserve opinions until after week 3 or 4, but it was encouraging. Shelley was hot garbage as usual and graded out -1.5 (-2.0 is considered AWFUL). But all the starters looked good. When Pouncey comes back maybe we can more Satale over or maybe Turner will get up to speed, but Shelley will get Ryan killed if he stays in there. Against the Bills Shelley will be a target unless he improves greatly.

You get your nut off with this 'I told you so' thread, OP? Of course no ones bitching about the line today. Congrats to you for not being worried during the offseason. :idk:

The problems left when we got our new O-line coach!

Miami can run the ball now! And they should keep running the ball...as much as possible...then turn Tannehill loose to make them gasp!

But his run blocking opened up fields of space for the RBs. If we get him at a -.5 to -1 on pass blocking I'll be ok with it as long as he keeps up the run blocking.

Just one game. I'm hopeful but after game 1 do we know yet if it's because we were good or NE was overrated?

He had a positive grade in the run game but pass blocking was bad. The RG still concerns me and I still think we draft one or two guards in next years draft. One starter and another for depth. I do think Turner will start if his toe heals up enough. I hope before the bye week he can get in and rotate a few snaps at RG.

Still, one spot on the line is better than LT, LG, RG and RT.

Thats right it was just one game now lets do the same against Jills and the Planes! Or is it plain? In either case the line has to play good in order for Knowsho to run like he did yesterday! And keeping Tannenhill upright is the biggest part! As he was sacked way to much last year! So if the line plays like it did yesterday then there is no reason we can't spank Jets or Bills or anybody for that matter!

Sorry, but individual grades on offensive lineman is the definition of "hot garbage" to me. Just my opinion.

As a unit, 1 sack and 191 rushing yards is an 'A' grade regardless of individual analysis.

It looked yesterday like we had 5 lineman who were better than their 5 predecessors, even in the center, though it's not like I analyzed closely. I'm sure Buffalo will provide a much more stringent test,

Its pretty easy to watch film and see if a lineman executed his assignment or not, so they aren't really hot garbage. Looking at group stats only can mask a poor individual performance that won't always end up masked.

Miami still needs better quality depth across the OL, especially at backup T. Some of this will come w. the development of Turner, which is good. But as of this point we still need better quality depth.

However, it's almost impossible to fix a starting 5 in one year, not to mention making 9 deep all quality.

So from that standpoint, props to Hickey!
