I rather have Gus play, AJ is the worst QB in the league, he has an arm and acc. but he has no brain. I would have liked to pick up Rattey or MacMan or even Dorsey. Dorsey at least has some brain.

Aj only played 8 damn games in college and then the following year he got benched behind Joey Hrrington. That year where everyone talk about he did great with the Eagles he didnt really do anything. 1st game was against the sorry 49ers and he only played 1 and a half quarters in that game. 2nd game couldnt score a TD all game but they won 10 to 3, the next game he did good but it was against the Redskins where he managed 2 td and a pick, and he also had a good game again, guess who? another garbage team the Cowboys. Then the playoffs came along and he was put back to 3rd string. The following year he didnt even smell the field he was 3rd string.

So where do ya see the potential in this kid?? He hasnt played a good season since he was in High School. Jay Fiedler was way better than this kid. We just gotta admitt we mest up in picking this kid up

we did mess up, we did overpay, but we got to hope that we did not. We have to clinge to the last bit of hope. I mean, he did win, in philly, and he won here (more than fiedler in the last year) so of course we hope.

It does not help to just throw names at the guy, we might as well hope he is better, because if he is better than frerrote then we have a better qb. A mistake might have been made, but we cannot just drop the hope .

how do u know he had a good season in high school.... :) Give me a break. The guy has the athletic ability now whether or not he "learns" the game better and starts making better decisions is the deciding factor. That's his "potential" and "downfalls" in one sentence.

I see him potentially working as a line cook at Denny's by this time next year.

From what I've seen of AJ he appears to be destined as a backup in this league. Yes, he does make the occasional great throw, great read, or even scamble for those extra yards....but as usual with backups, the consistency is definitely not there.

A lot of this might be attributed to him being thrown to the wolves last year but with little has Saban has mentioned him and the bad practices (granted it's only been as few) he's had so far .....I can easily see him riding the bench for some time.

Well over the last 3 games of the year he only threw 1 pick in over 113 passes which should be a sign of some maturation plus won 2 of final three games including a win vs Super Bowl Champ New England. So if that is not potential what is is it. We were in all these games and came very close to beating Denver at Denver. Give this guy some protection with a decent line because nobody could succeed with the way the line played last year and not a decent back to take pressure off him. If people wanna go with Gus that is an opinion but Gus has never been or ever will be anything special. Somehow went to Pro Bowl with a 70 something rating. If Feeley can improve on the way he played at end of year or even just play as well as he did that has to show some potential much more than Frerotte has because its no coincidence that nobody tried to sign him as thier starter.

I've been looking really really hard for potential and I can't find it. He's been in this league for a long time (5th season now right?) and he's still making basic mistakes like locking on to the reciever, holding on the ball and generally being inconsistent in the throws. I'm just not sure what the talent some people talk about is.

As for the people wanting to give him a chance purely because we paid a 2nd rounder, I honestly wish you guys played poker. In poker, one of the most important skills is cutting your losses. People who don't know how to cut their losses feed the good poker players. AJ is a bad hand, and we already lost a 2nd rounder, do you really want to lose another one? Lay down the hand, let Frerotte play and get a new QB next year. (Oh and for all you people wanting to play AJ, I'm usually found in Poker.com, I'd love to play with you =).

I've been in this argument way too many times. All I will say about it this time is this: Had we not beat New England, half the people who say/think he has this potential to be our future QB for years to come, would not be thinking it. Minus the one touchdown at the end, he had a very ordinary game and that one TD made people drool over him. It's amazing how easily people can be swayed.

I'm with you completely.

And you guys have made these conclusions off of what? He was having a decent Jr. yr in college until he got injured. Harrington came in and played great. So much so that he became a top 10 draft pick.
Feeley showed promise in limited activity at Philly. Last yr was the worst possible scenario to put a new QB into.
I am neither a supporter nor detractor. I don't think anyone can make an honest assessment of his potential just yet.

We won the game against New England and had no interceptions that a plus even if he did not look like an all pro that game. We won friggin 4 games all year 3 of which he was the QB over the last few games of the season. The kid played hurt and performed solid with the pressure that was on him. It not like Gus Frerotte is really gonna be a great upgrade so why not at least see what Feeley can do this year in preseason before we annoint the great Frerotte. Now if we had signed Brad Johnson I would lsiten to the arguement that he should play but we are talking about Gus Frerotte. Hell lets talk to the bucs about Cris Simms. Damn I wish we still had Brian Griese. But of course Brian sucks because the 4 games he played for us he was not good so he really sucks. I bet he never starts in NFL again. Whoops.

Fortunately, most rational peolple aren't swayed by one positive or negative event.
The fact is that NO QB in this league would have had success in this offense
QB's succeed when they are well coached (he wasn't), have a good offensive coordinator (he didn't) and have some decent talent around them (he didn't).
You get into arguments like this because you make premature and outlandish comments.
No one is drooling over Feeley. Most people, however, are fair minded and recognize that the problems with the QB position last year went way beyond Feeley.

Brian Griese didn't look so hot in a Fins uniform. Maybe it was the team and not the player.
Let the season play itself out and we'll see what we have in Feeley.

I agree he sux, but anyone is better than Feidler. We have to hope Ricky has a great game week 6, so we can trade him for a QB, or a draft pick. So we can get one next year.
