Gase is lying.

Any body language expert would look at the post-game interview re. Tannehill “injury” and tell you the same thing.

Since he did not speak to the severity or exact nature of the “injury”, it can’t be that.

He was very uncomfortable and shifty when the reporters tried to get any basic info about the injury. Why????

His demeanor clearly states that he is not only lying about an injury being the cause for Tannehill’s non-play, but he is clearly angry as well. He is being forced to lie, and he is angry about that. He wants to tell the truth, but his hands are tied.

So, read in it what you will. But my take is that he is clearly lying about the injury. From that, it seems logical that Tanny was benched by either owner/GM/coach in a divided decision. A public cover story was concocted to protect Tanny’s confidence, and provide room for a clean UTurn in case Brock made a mess.

It really is the easiest way to try a different QB without all the benching drama.

The big question is: Who is supporting the benching of Tannehill, and who is against?

My wife and I were thinking the same thing as the OP. All of a sudden RT is "injured" is skeptical. No report of any incident that led to this injury.

I think 17 was injured on that one hit where he got up moving his arm and he looked like he was in discomfort. I think he is injured but coach did look uncomfortable so either the injury is more severe or as the o p believes there may be something more to it. Curious to find out which it is.

I love a good conspiracy theory....
Just to play devil's advocate: If you saw Tannehill during the game, he was high fiving Osweiler, running around, laughing and smiling. Do you think someone who had been benched, had to pretend to be injured, would be that supportive and enthusiastic during the game?

I think that the OP has watched too many poorly written dramas. Gase cuts players during the season, trades Ajayi last year, and calls the plays under a firestorm of criticism without blinking eye. Do you really think he would not speak his mind about benching a QB?

Game has been nothing but a straight shooter if you watch him regularly. He bristles at things he thinks are stupid or repetitive.

And — are you a “body language expert?” It seems presumptuous to speak for all of them. Furthermore, I consider such things hocus locus more than science.

I’m more onboard with the idea Ryan mismanaged his own injury by hiding it until it was too painful to hide. That would be a simpler explanation as to why Gase seemed pissed. Imagine you game plan all week and BO has no practice then you find out last minute your starter has been hiding an injury and everything needs to change?

Love a good conspiracy theory too! I totally agree with you, but OP is right, Gase seemed way too uncomfortable answering standard questions and was unnecessarily evasive.

Keep in mind too, Tanny is a consummate professional and a great teammate, so doesnt surprise me he would still be cheering on the team. Dude is a class act.

That said, if his shoulder was hurt, he probably shouldnt be high-fiving anyone.

The real question is, where are all the stupid fans b****ing about how they want Gases head on a platter because they think they’re smarter than him lmfao. RT is the starter as well fools fyi. Knew we would win this game, called it and it feels GREAT, just like when I called the win over melty ice last year. Keep sleeping on this coach, QB room, and team fools hahaha!

He is injured. Y’all are trying to dig something up that isn’t remotely even close to being true. Yes Gase was pissed. But there are several reason a that could be. A) he is pissed that tannehill didn’t play and he felt that he could, B) he is still pissed at the terrible effort from the line which tannehill got hurt In the first place, or C) he knows the injury is worse than we think and he will have Brock Osweiler as his Qb for an extended period of time. Keep in mind, he may be on the hot seat, and if he is, Brock Osweiler as your QB is almost a guaranteed loss of your job.

I'm not buying it. I think Gase is very single-minded and has the strength in his convictions.... if he wanted to bench Tanne he would do it and stand up in a presser and tell everyone he's done it. He wouldn't necessarily answer questions about it, but I think he would say it.

Plus Tanne has been off the mark the past couple of weeks - his throws didn't have the usual zip, the long ball to Stills on the 3rd & 1 last week was very poor. Hopefully a bit of time will heal and he can up his game.
