I'm not suggesting it is a sure thing we are taking anybody at the position at all, let alone on the first day. At the same time, this does open the door to the possibility if you ask me.

We have trading down irons in the fire to put us in almost every part of the first round. Who fits the defense Saban is going to be running? Rolle? Rogers? Jones? One of the two lesser first round guys? Does anyone have opinions here? I admit I haven't really been considering it...

Howard Bartrell JR. I think he is the guy with his great speed and size. He needs some grooming so it will be a great pick next year when he's had some teaching from Madison. He is 6' 1" almost 6'2". Runs a 4.38 40. Has close to a 40" vertical. This guy can be groomed to play alongside Poole in the future. We stll have Howard to play the cover 2 with Madison. Then we have Poole and Edwards as the Nickel and dime backs respectively.

I am going with Corey Webster. He played for Saban and would have been a first rounder had he not gotten hurt his senior season. IF he is there is the third there is no way Saban lets him slide. I dont know what kind if COrners Saban prefers because last year at LSU he has Webster who is big and physical, and the other side was Daniels who is a little more of a finnesse player.

I don't really think we need a cornerback in the early rounds. We still have a pretty strong group with Madison, Howard, Poole and Edwards

Nick very well may feel the same way. That really isn't the question, though. I'm hoping to get an idea of what players in the position to watch assuming we end up with a pick at around the point they might go.

Agreed!

Thats why I said Howard Bartrell Jr. Loads and loads of upside but he needs to be groomed a little bit. Has the physical tools to be great just needs a year or two to develop. Plus he'll be a day 2 pick.

Antrel Rolle, Carlos Rodgers, Marlin Jackson, Justin Miller

Still, I think we have more pressing needs in the first round, even with multiple picks.

Hopefully Jackson slips to our pick in the 2nd round. Or Miller.

He got burned/torched during the Senior Bowl practices...and not just by one WR (Clayton). He's a raw talented but has alot to learn about the CB position. I'm not against taking him, but only as a late draft pick.

Antrel Rolle by an absolute mile.

He is the type of CB that Saban would love. Big and physical, well built, long arms. Fast.

Ok then i'll agree with nando03 i don't really know about Howard Bartrell but i believe that Saban would probably take someone in the later rounds to develop over the years.

That's ok, we really don't need a cb to start right now we can just take one in the later rounds and groom him

If Saban is looking for a bigger CB, look no further than the biggest in the draft, Brandon Browner of Oregon State. Although he only ran a 4.6 40, he 6'3" and 221 lbs., kind of a 'tweener between S/CB. A player I like might be Domonique Foxworth from Maryland. 5'11" 184 lbs. with a 4.4 40. But Bartrell isn't exactly small. And he runs a quick 40.
