Which Of These NFL Europa Players Allocated By The Miami Dolphins You Are Looking Forward To See Them In Our Roster?

  • DT Steve Fifita - Frankfurt Played in 10 games and started four, including the last three, at defensive tackle … recorded 26 tackles on the season, including 2½ sacks, and a fumble recovery.
  • CB Shirdonya Mitchell - Frankfurt Started nine games and played in 10 for the Galaxy … totaled 31 tackles and nine passes defensed, including two interceptions, one of which he returned 81 yards for a touchdown … named to the All-NFL Europa League team.
  • WR P.K. Sam - Rhein Started seven of nine games in which he played at wide receiver … led team with 32 catches, 529 receiving yards and three touchdowns … those totals ranked sixth, fourth and sixth, respectively, in NFL Europa.
  • DT Kevin Vickerson - Cologne Started all 10 games at defensive tackle … registered 31 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and two passes defensed … named to the All-NFL Europa League team.

I like P.K. and Shirdonya, but would take Mitchell because I feel CB is a weaker position than WR for us.

I've always like Vickerson. He may have a good shot now if Evans is suspended or released. I also think Mitchell has a good shot. Sam looks promising but it'll be hard for him to nab a spot. I don't really know anything about Fifita.

Just because Evans was arrested for stupidity does not mean he would released. Granted it certainly pissed off Cam, based upon his statement. The Dolphins would not invest so much effort into a DT star-to-be, only to throw their progress away. It deserves a fine or something rather harsh, but nothing related to affecting team performance.

I agree with your assessment of Mitchell AND Sam. I would hate to see Sam released because of too much depth. He is fast, 6' 3", and has shown good success in NFL Europa. Whether that really means much or not is not my debate. However, after Chambers, Booker, Hagan, and Ginn, I see him competing for a spot with Hakim, Campbell, and Sutton. Unfortunately, that makes eight WR's. I hate to say this, but despite Booker's relative productivity and consistency, he makes the most sense to be traded to make cap room and room for PK Sam AND Sutton to make the team. Both P.K. and David Sutton really fight for the ball, and have the strength to overpower most defenders. A trade like this would not surprise me near the start of the season if another team's prime receiver goes down with an injury.

Sutton is still incredibly raw and inexperienced, but tall, fast, incredibly athletic, and has really performed well in mini-camps. Cam likes him from what's he has mentioned publicly so far. Nonetheless, getting more youth, height, physicality, and speed into this team at the WR position (i.e. P.K. Sam and David Sutton) should continue to be the driving force behind the final roster.

Of course, all of this is contingent upon what we see from these guys in training camp, with pads.

Vickerson and Sam.

I've seen quite a lot of NFLE games this year and I'm surprised that so many people think highly of Mitchell. Granted, he was an NFLE allstar, but that's really not saying much in a league that doesn't have a single decent CB. His recovery speed is awful, he can't play the ball, he's a bad tackler and he's giving his WR too big a cushion on just about any play. Several teams went after him on purpose this season, and boy did he get beat. He wasn't only atrocious last night, but in every game he played against a decent passing offense. Our CB depth isn't much to speak of, but I don't see a guy there I would rate lower than him.

Fifita on the other hand is strong and mean. But that's about it. His technique is awful and he doesn't get enough leverage. His footwork is a concern, too. He's got physical tools to work with, but I just don't see it happening this season. Maybe next year, but I doubt it.

Sam I like a lot. He played in a really bad offense and still made plays. He's fast enough, he's strong enough and he catches well. I see him compete for the #5 WR spot, but considering that he already played 10 games this year, I'd be surprised to see him beat out Campbell, Sutton and Hakim. NFLE players usually get problems in training camp (especially in South Florida's climate) because they tend to reach their physical limits. If I had to wager a guess, I'd say PS.

Vickerson I don't like as much as Sam, simply because I expected more from him. He played decent but not great. He showed glimpses of talent, but he's lacking explosiveness and a mean streak. His technique is decent, his footwork is okay, but he too rarely goes to his limits. He's the kind of player where you always think that he could've made the play if only he had put everything in it. That said, I think he has a decent shot at a backup spot considering that Evans might get fired. If Evans stays, I don't see him back.

All in all, I've seen a handful of players I would consider NFL material. Unfortunetely, none of them is a Dolphin. JT O'Sullivan (Galaxy) has all the tools and could become a decent backup at least. Same goes for Casey Bramlet (Hamburg). And the TE of Galaxy is a beast. I'd sign that guy every day over any Dolphin player in the league.
