#1. dumping Sparano, hiring a top flight head coach like Cowher, Fisher, etc but keeping Ireland

or

#2. keeping Sparano, dumping Ireland and signing a top flight GM like Thompson or Newsome

My choice is #2 in a heartbeat!

Both choices suck. If one goes, so does the other. Tony and Jeff came as a part of a package deal, they need to leave the same way they came.

I like Sparano more than I like Ireland, but both the coaching and the talent evaluation have been below average, so I'd be unhappy with either scenario. We need new philosophies and a new culture...again.

Both suck, but i think you have to go with #2 at the moment. It doesn't matter who's coaching if you have no talent. And the talent issue won't be solved overnight...it's a process. We can always deal with Sparano at a later date.

That's like saying that you have brain cancer and lung cancer, and only get to have one removed...

I take Ireland over Sparano - Sparano had his kick at the can and cannot motivate men

Ireland did not hire TS BP did

Ireland is very likley to stay when all is said and done - it really depends on what Carl Petersen thinks of him now doesn't it?

Ireland IMO is a better GM than Parcells was an executive or Tony is a HC. Regrettably, it hasn't been enough. We need a clean sweep if for nothing more than to ceremonially expunge all remnants associated with The FAIL that was the Parcells Era.

Turns out that all of the 3 were in over their heads when rising to the demands at the next unfamiliar level. While Ireland might have come closest to successfully stepping up to meet the challenges, he still fell short. It's just time to look ahead and leave what's in the past behind.

I see the kids can't stay on topic but I'll play along.

Given those are my two choices, this is what I need to know.

The Draft.

Who would have been Irelands and Sparano's picks in the 1st and 2nd if the decision was solely up to each of them? I'm happy with the picks made but I'd like to know who each guy really wanted and who made the final call.

Free Agency

What moves were attempted by Ireland that we don't know about and what requests were made by Sparano that didn't happen? The team was coming into the season with a top ranked defense and bottom ranked offense. Why weren't the o-line issues addressed, aside from Pouncey?

Did the FO (Ross) view Sparano as a lame duck coach and was unwilling to invest in better players or did Sparano stubbornly think players like Columbo were good enough?

So, until I know the whole story I can't give an answer. Gotta know who made what decisions before I know who to put the blame on. Big decisions actually require some thinking. :)
