If you could go back and change the outcome of one of our Super Bowl losses, which would it be? If we win in '71 we'd be the only team with 3 consecutive SB wins, and likely considered the greatest team of all-time. If we win in '84, Marino has his ring and would likely be considered the best QB all-time hands down. So which of these 2 would you pick?

1984, without a doubt, to give my all-time favorite player a SB ring.

1984. So we can put the whole Marino is not better because he doesnt have a ring to rest.

I voted 84. The Steelers are probably still the best team of that decade, whether we win in 71' or not.

I'd take the one not on your list, 1982. If we win that game we may have been able to dodge Dan Marino completely. Let's say Woodley somehow flukes a big game, or something comparable to his games within the AFC playoffs, and makes a handful of big plays similar to the early pass to Cefalo. Maybe at that point Shula doesn't think we need a QB a few months later, or perhaps the Redskins snag Marino at #27, instead of settling for Darrell Green one spot behind us.

A guy can dream. Understand I never disliked Marino. I hated the style of football he brought, a no chance style once Shula caved in to it and refused to insist on physical balance.

If I had to pick one on your list, I choose 1984. No way I want to risk the 1972 unbeaten season by winning the title a year earlier. No guarantee we go 17-0 if we already had that ring. And 1972 is what sets us apart, much more than 3 straight titles would have.

3 in a row (including a perfect season) would have been more impressive than what the Steelers did. Besides, the Steelers' 4th Super Bowl was technically in the 80's.

If we win that Superbowl in 71', I don't think there's any way that we go undefeated the following year. The 72' team had something to prove after the loss the previous year. They don't have that same drive having won it all the previous year. In my opinion of course.
