in a attempt to post a more sensible thread i tought i would start a topic on what type of offense would you guys like to see or would run if you were a offensive coordinator.

type #1 a offense that uses a two wr ,1 te and 1 tailback set.

type #2 a spread offense where we use a 4 wr set with a occasional tailback in the backfield.

type #3 a two tight end , 1 wr and a two backs in the backfield set

the team i would like to see the dolphins run would be a lot like san fransisco or the colts . anyway you look at it would be very ineresting if we had a fb and a rb and a wr make it to a pro bowl in the same year.
nebraska once used a three wr and two runningback set and they had 2 wrs had stacked in front of each other and on back 5 yards behine the qb and this gave the tailback more time to hit the hole quicker or to see more options when crossing the line of scrimage.

in all honesty i hope we can get two wrs to the pro bowl and get more publicity but more importantly i want to see a very good dolphin offense and after 15 years of bad offense i think we are due to see a really good offense.

in an effort to post better is this a good topic to start or discuss ?
thanks

A convetnional "I" formation with a lot of running and play action would be my choice with "Hammer" doing a LOT of lead blocking.

I honestly love the system Cam is bringing in. I feel the ball will be spread out everywhere, and that the speed we are bringing in will help stretch the defense down field.

I like the way the Colts and Bengals run their offense. I like the use of the 3WR (with even the TE being that slot WR) and a single back. But I would also like to use an I formation power running game. I would be big on balance, meaning a good mix of run and pass. I would look to be aggressive but be aware of how defenses are trying to defend you and look to check down instead of forcing things downfield all the time. Ultimately you have to cater to your talent. I think an OC has to be able to adapt to the personell he is given and design his gameplan to fit what they can do best.

Base formation: 3 wide, single back, under center. Use multiple sets, with motion. Sugar huddle, no huddle, and 2-3 play selection "check with me" at the line.

I'm a fan of the smashmouth style. I love the power running game, mixed in with timely play-action and an adaptable passing game that reads-and-reacts, and takes advantage of what the defense gives up. Clock control, field position, and manageable 3rd downs. Just run it down their throats. If the defense wants to plant 8 in the box... play action. Beat 'em by 3 and send 'em to the training room with an old school butt-whoopin'.

But, I like Cam's system, too. It's not really all that dissimilar.

For this team I would probably run an offense with a lot of crossing routes to try and pick defenders off. We have very good speed with Ginn and Chambers, and Hagan does a great job of getting open. That would open up a lot. As for running the ball it would be a lot of right up the gut and stretch plays, not much of the outside stuff.

Main formations would be:

3 Receiver, 1TE, 1 HB
3 Receiver, 1HB, 1FB
2 Receiver, 2 TE, 1HB
2 Receiver, 1TE, 1FB, 1 HB

I would either run the Norv Turner system, or I would run a west coast offense that looked a lot like Mike Shanahan's, with a ground game that is based on the zone play and the cutback play as the two staples.

Of course it really also depends on what kind of personnel you have.

I really feel running/passing out of the same formation will have alot of success. On first down give them the ole vanilla 2WR/ 1 TE 1 HB/FB. After that down and distance dictates. We need to be successfull running the ball. Not 5 -6 yard every play, just positive yards every play. I think our offense will be very unpredictable. That will keep the Defense off balance more then anything. You can't simply pass on passing down, and run on running downs. Just got to mix it up and execute, avoid mistakes, don't turn it over, and get postive yards each play and the offense will be successffull.

Cams running game with LT was a power game. I expect Ronnie to be used the same way, especially if the o-line is blocking well. I appreciate the kind of game you like, we feel the same but Cam is about scoring points. He has said that four or five times now. No matter what, he intends to score points.

What we haven't had, is the ability to use the power running game to close out a game. The pass was so ineffective that 8 in the box worked with no worry about the pass. If you look at the points SD generated, and consider that is where we are heading with our offense, things are bright indeed.

How sweet would it be to have a two or three score lead in the fourth, smash mouth um on offense.. and hey, you don't suppose our defense would be fun to watch knowing it is a pass rushers game.

I loved the "fastest show on turf"...Love Mike Martz offensive philosophy, especially in today's game where in order to score you need to throw the ball.

OOOOooo LLAAAAaaaaa

I'm drooling with anticipation reading this! Nice work.

We have an older QB, an unproven line, and a RB that has shown flashes of very goodness.

2wr, 1fb,1hb, and our best blocking tight end or H-back type and lots of play action passes to the HB out in the flat, and let them try to make a play one on one.

Supposedly it "Easier" for a young O-lineman to run block rather then pass block. I would like to see Reagen as the H-back type.
