Here is some info that is interesting to us....

http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/insider/news/story?id=2256593

It's starting to look like Niners OLB Julian Peterson, a free agent at the end of the season, might not be back in San Francisco next year. We hear Peterson's asking price currently far exceeds what the team's management might be willing to pay, especially considering his uneven play this season.

The Bengals worked out former Browns QB Tim Couch last week but did not sign the 1999 overall top pick. The Bengals may view Couch as a replacement for Jon Kitna, who will be an unrestricted free agent after the season and will draw interest on the market.

We hear the fact that the Dolphins went back to Gus Frerotte as their starting quarterback the week following Sage Rosenfels' great comeback effort vs. the Bills in Week 13 is a strong indication that Rosenfels doesn't figure into Miami's future beyond this season. Word is, Miami believes Frerotte is the perfect No. 2 quarterback for the team in 2006.

Looks like Julian Peterson might be an option, as well as Kitna for next season.

QB comment is interesting, if they are sold on Gus as next seasons #2, who is their #1?

Did we ever take a look at Couch??? He has all the tools just lacks mental toughness, wich isnt bad when your only a backup.

indeed..very interesting news
I want peterson..he's kind of injury prone, though not as much as Eddie Moore :D
and would make our LB core sickkk

Nice little read there but I think they believe we our drafting a QB early then if they are saying Gus is #2! Where do you think Sage will go after this season?

I don't think so, but I would love to next year. It would be nice to able to bring in QB's like Couch, Kitna, Collins, Brooks. Bring em all in and let them battle it out.

I'm still thinking as if Gus will be our starter heading into next season. There is little chance we'll find a suitable replacement in free agency and the draft may yield a rookie who can take over the following season ala Palmer in Cincy. It might be asking a bit much for a rookie to beat out a veteran who is well versed in the system and familiar with the personnel - not to mention a team with playoff aspirations.

Whomever our starter is next year he will be lucky to have Gus as his backup.

After possibly finishing 8-8 this season with Gus, you want to demote him to #2 and start our high drafted rookie? I don't think so. I think they are assuming we try to get a bigger named free agent to be our #1. Kitna, Brees/Rivers, Brooks, Collins, Carr all could be FA's and they might be an upgrade over Gus. I would not want a rookie to go in as our starter next year. Let him learn for a year.

Enough of this potential starter bull****, Couch sucks and we wont go for him. Cutler, Pinnegar, or Croyle are the only QBs that we will porbably take that might Change if Young declares.

But do you think Young comes into to a team with playoff thoughts to be the starter? No. If the team is set on Gus being #2 next season, who is #1. You are right though, probably not Couch, but you never know.

I think the offense is beginning to click in a big way and this should carryy momentum into next year. If gus is replaced it would have to be by someone that is going to take it long term. otherwise it would be pointless to bring in yet another veteran to be a caretaker for another year.

If we bring in a rookie to groom, I highly doubt we'll replace our starter as well. There is no assurance any of the above mentioned would be an upgrade. I feel all clearly have more talent but will not be as familiar with the system or the personnel.
