If, as everyone thinks, Pat White is going to be used situationaly, (Wildcat) how can he be listed a 3rd Qb on the depth chart? Once the 3rd QB comes into a game, the other QB's are excluded from the rest of the game. WR depth looks crowded, how would they list him on the roster?

Sorry didn't realize there was another post on this!

once again , if you have all three qb's active then the emergency qb rule is not in effect. Damn I wish we could do a redo of the draft.

Hate to break it to you, but at this point in time, I don't think we would have changed the White pick in hindsight. Maybe the Hartline pick for a DL or OG, but otherwise, this draft class is just to young to judge. Now that would change if White turns into a bust, but give the kid some time to prove his worth.

What is it like being a true hater? Man, at least Ronnie Brown is now safe from your little rants now that Pat White is a Dolphin.

Now Im a hater because I think Pat White was a bad pick. Sorry I dont think all draft picks are golden.

As for Brown He is a good NFL runningback, has proved to be nothing special, Maybe he will become that special player this year. If Ronnie Brown played for any other team, nobody on this board would be riding his jock and saying how great he is. Who cares what a guy does, we deal in what ifs on this board.

I dont know who is more overrated Ronnie Brown or Marion Barber.

Also I dont think we would change the pick, just wishful thinking.
Never been a fan of the wildcat and less of a fan of drafting players day one to fill roles in our parttime offense.

What makes you think it will be a part-time offense? And what makes you think the wildcat will be the same with White playing at QB?

I'll bet that the Dolphins don't play the wildcat like they did last season...in fact I'm looking at them playing a spread offense like White played in college. With him at QB...he'll have the option to either run...handoff to Ronnie or Ricky...or Pass. No need to overload the O-Line anymore...the best part is no defense can play just one part of the possible parts of the offense like they did last season...they have to not only prepare for all aspects...but there will have to stop what is thrown against them during the game.

Is that because most rookie QB's come in and dominate, defenses will make sure he can't run and force the rookie to read defenses and throw. Something he's never had to do before, good luck.
White will have a role in the wildcat and not much else, I really don't understand the belief he'll come in and change our pass game as a rookie.

And no I'm not a hater either but people will say anything when their views are not agreed upon.

very few if any could've run any better behind our line than ricky & ronnie did last year. and they are both special.

Alot of rookie QB's have played well their first year...and it's not just him now is it...he has plenty of help on the field.

As far as he not having to play against teams that tried to stop him...maybe I remind you that happened every week in college for 4 years...and 4 Bowl games...and also the senior Bowl.

And are we talking about the wildcat of last season...or the spread offense of this season. Thats a big difference.

Spread offense in the NFL is based on the QB knowing the defensive package and the WR's being on the same page, this changes what routes they would run according to what package they see. This is a very difficult offense to run with a real good QB let alone a rookie who basically played in a "run and gun" offense. College football is more about the better athletes on the team then the offenses being run. All NFL teams have great athletes and it comes down to prep work and execution.

You say plenty of rookie QB's have done well but majority of them are protected by a run game that is dominant and a equally dominant defense (usually) i.e. Big Ben, M.Ryan who struggled badly when Turner rushed for less then 100 yards, Flacco who's numbers we're nothing special.

M.Leinart came from a pro style offense and has the two best WR's in the game and has struggled to get it.

NFL defenses will disguise defenses and contain White to the pocket as best as they can and let all 6'0 of him throw the ball. Of course he'll escape here and there but in the long run he will struggle to move the ball. A spread offense doesn't allow the QB to hide behind a strong run game and play action your way to easier throwing lanes.

BP and TS stress being conservative with the ball, no turnovers, punt for field position and force teams into mistakes. What part of the spread offense to you is conservative when it comes to turning the ball over. We won games because we never turned the ball over, played sound defense and had to rely on a wildcat run game due to injuries. But now all of a sudden because the great P.White is here we will abandon this to run some spread offense that is high risk, high reward. That doesn't seem to make sense unless we have developed this brand new spread offense that is highly conservative and if so why not just pound the ball and let Penny do his thing?

I must be missing something, especially the part about the rookie Qb coming in and putting the fear in defenses with pass or run threat. And I thought all those championships that M.Vick won we're in dog fights not superbowls.

I guess you are missing something...hopefully you'll find it this season.

White isn't here to change the offense...he's here to add to it.

By the way...M. Vick was never an accurate QB...he could run well but thats it.

He'll add to it by putting him in situations that will allow him to succeed, which is the Wildcat, not the spread offense. In the Wildcat there is no real read on the defense except who to hand the ball off to or keep it. The passes will be based off of playaction of a run first formation thus protecting the rookie from the big mistake.

P.White won't be an accurate passer in his first year unless used sparingly, he has a tonne to learn and hopefully will become as great as some have already annointed him, I'll just wait and see before I believe.

And make no mistake I do believe White is an exciting addition to our team but it is really unrealistic to think his impact in year 1 will be great.
