The Miami Dolphins had 17 penalties and five turnovers against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. So, yeah, in losing their fourth consecutive game the Dolphins had 22 significant screw-ups.
And only 20 points.
More mistakes than points.
This isn’t the preseason anymore, folks. This isn’t a first outing of the year after which the coach and players can demand patience to fix their mistakes.

I like this part of the story,

"But with six games left in the season, the rationalizations and promises to fix the issues are just noise."

It's true. Gase is just making noise when he speaks about the Fins' ills. I'd like to say he knows what's going on, and he just plays with the media with his coach speak. But these past 4 losses, I really don't think Gase has a clue. He identifies issues in his pressers, basically says, here's the problem. So, the next week the issues are still there. Does he not know how to fix false starts for example?

like um "we just have to fix the problems and get better" -Adam Gase in every single press conference

I don't have access to the coaches film and probably wouldn't know what I am seeing if I did, but could someone explain to me why our guys playing zone stand there flat footed and let the WR/TE/RB just catch the ball in front of them? I probably don't have a clue, but my idea of zone would be that if a guy came into my area of responsibility then I am treating it like he is going to get the ball so I would try and position myself to either knock down the pass or intercept it or as a last resort tackle the SOB. Our guys seem willing to just let guys catch it then make the tackle. I understand that the offense is trying to find areas where they can just sit down between defenders, etc., but come on! If it's just going to be throw and catch why play zone at all?

Gase reminds me of Josh McDaniels. Both made by stellar QBs and both failed as HCs. Gase's body language in the presser says it all. I'm the smartest person in this room and how dare you question that. My scheme is flawless, the execution is poor.

Michigan didn't hire Harbaugh to go 9-3 and lose to Ohio State every year. When they get beat in their house Saturday it may present a golden opportunity for Ross to offer him a landing spot.
