I think with our new 2eme rounder, we will select quinn (if falls to us at 9) and a LT in round 2 but who could be here and start day one at LT position ?

coud you give me your opinion because in france I haven't draft players value round by round ?

thanks

Extremely hard to find a LT in the 2nd and beyond that could start from Day 1.

Staley would probably be the best option in Round 2. With Houck's coaching he could possibly turn out to be a solid LT. I'd be extremely nervous him starting from day 1 though.

I honestly don't understand everyone who is calling for Joe Staley. It's not that I don't think he can be good.

My issue is we have Anthony Alabi and we obviously don;t know how good he is. Joe Staley is a project with great athleticism who COULD develop into a very good LT. Problem is, what have you ACTUALLY seen from him to say he has a better chance of developing into a LT then Alabi.

I understand using a 1st round pick on a LT. With that high a pick you usually get a guy that has SHOWN clear production and his hit/miss ration is very good. So we know we are getting a solid tackle who's track record indicates that he will be a good pro.

With a 2nd round LT you are basically getting a question mark. That question mark isn't necessarily better than our current question mark (Alabi).

I understand getting later round LT's because they don't cost much and can compete with Alabi.

With our first day picks I want to get guys that we feel VERY strongly will come in and upgrade a position. With the LT's after the 1st round I don't think you can be that confident they are better then what we have. So why not use later round picks that we don't mind gambling with?

Use our 2nd on guys we feel strongly will win a starter's job. Corner Backs, Pass rushing outside LB, Offensive Center etc.

For instance taking Ryan Kahlil. We can feel pretty safe that he will be better than what we have now at center (nothing). Rex Hadnot is better suited for guard then center.

Joe Staley is probably the fastest LT availabe in the draft but some are concerned about his lack of upper body strength. He didn't run at the combine because of a pulled hamstring but he did do the bench press where he did 27 reps. So maybe the concerns of his upper body strength is more of technique than strength.

Brandon Frye, Virginia Tech is another athletic OT who could be there either late 2nd or early 3rd. Frye also brings versatility having played OG as well.

Doug Free's 22 reps in the bench press was a disappointment but otherwise had a pretty good combine.

I still say, aside from Marcus McNeil this past draft, you're going to have to use a 1st rounder on a franchise LT. I don't think Levi Brown is the answer, especially not at 9 overall. IMO, I feel we should let Alabi/Shelton/FA compete this year and draft one of the the 4 big LT's next year (Gaither - if he enters, Barry Richardson, Jake Long or Sam Baker.

I think We need to draft Brown in the first round, and hopefully draft another OL men with one of the two second round picks we have and really start to fix that damn oline. The only thing that would change this would be if Quinn just so happened to fall to #9. I dont think he will fall that far and i also ont think its worth wasting picks to move up to get him. If quinn is not there we have to, have to get Levi Brown. Hope fuly we could also get someone like kalil, or grubbs or even staley with one of the second round picks. I would also like to see us get another WR with the other second round pick.

JOE STALEY... he supposedly has great hands and knows how to uses them...definately the 3rd best tackle in this great tackle draft adn that is why you draft him... Hes very well could of been the best OT in other drafts.. yea we draft Alabi with a LATE pick therefore if We draft Staley with an early picki it would mean that he is a better player than Alabi...im not taking anyhting away from Alabi he has potential to be good to but he can also be moved around and it would make for a even better line if both played

If Quinn is gone we could move down and still get Levi Brown or Ginn around 14 to 15 and get yet another pick....I'd not tale Brown at 9 and I don't know about taking a LT in round 2 tho is posible now that we have some extra picks. You can't fix everything with one draft so maybe we'll go with Alibi and wait till next year to draft a LT is Alibi's not the guy.

Ozzy rules!!

I just think that we should take the BPA regardless of position unless Khalil is there. We could even possibly get Sydney Rice if he falls. You have to choose the BPA.

I hope Alabi is ready he certainly looks the part of a LT and has had plenty of time to be groomed. We'll know how close the coaches think he is after the first 2rds are over.

The more I kept thinking about the draft and our offensive line, the more I realized we don't need to draft a T. Carey is solid at RT. Shelton will proabably move to G, while Hadnot will move to the other G. If we get one offensive lineman in the 2nd, I think it should be Ryan Kalil. He would come in at start at center immediately. Lets not forget Fonoti who could replace Shelton at G if healthy.

Why don't we draft a LT? Anthony Alabi and Joe Toledo. Two highly regarded players who (from reading on this bored) have the potential to start at LT (not sure about Toledo). I would rather give either or the shot at LT, and just focus on getting Kalil.

Alabi or Toledo/Shelton/Kalil/Hadnot/Carey

I would like to see us trade down out of our 1st IF Quinn or Gaines Adams don't fall to us. Lets say hypothetically we pick up a late 1st and another 2nd. We could draft Olsen at TE, or go with a WR like Meachem. Hopefully get Kalil in the 2nd. Draft an OLB/DE hybrid like Tim Crowder (not sure if he is?) and a CB like McCauley. All in the second, granted, if their there.

I agree. Next year's group of LTs are amazing. I don't really like Baker, but Long or Gaither would be awesome.
