It's been stated in the news media that Mueller attempted to trade down out of the 9th position in the first round. Which would mean if Ginn was his target he expected him available later in the first round or the Dolphins had some-else targeted later in the first round. It raises these questions. Which one do you think it was Ginn being availble later or another player targeted? If Mueller thought Ginn was going to be availabe later how much later in the first round how far would you would think Ginn would have slid? If another player was targeted whom?

Botton line is they had no idea on what to do or who they want it:confused:

I might be wrong here, but I thought Mueller said that he was listening to offers, but none of them were good enough to move down. I think the typical due diligence that goes on during that 15 minutes has spawned more nonsense.

I recall reading an article after the draft that Mueller had tried to trade down to a spot that was before the Cowboys. Seems he thought that they were the most likely team that would go for Ginn.
I also read another article that said the Texans were going to take Ginn at the #10 spot if he was still there.
All in all, I think the reason why everyone thinks of our #9 pick as a reach is simply because Ginn is hurt at the moment. Many mocks said that he'd be a top 10 player if he was healthy. Seeing where we took him, and knowing the Texans would have probably taken him at #10 means he wasn't so much of a reach as the media would have you believe. The real reason everyone is in an uproar over the whole thing is really more because of Quinn anyway. We could have drafted anyone else and we'd still be in the same situation just because Quinn was available to as at the time.

no Mueller knew Ginn would be gone if they traded out of 9 because he knew the texans would have taken him at 10...

Mueller probably listened to some offers, but it wasn't enough for him to want to lose Ginn and be worth it... its pretty clear Ginn was the main target from the start

I think you do pose an interesting question. The three things I have heard is 1) Cam/Mueller got Wayne to sign off on the idea of drafting Ginn over Quinn, 2) Vernon Carey was asked/told before the draft he would be moving to LT (which tells me they weren't targeting Levi Brown), and 3) Miami was attempting to trade down (perhaps thought with Ginn's injury he wouldn't be taken?).

My greatest concern with our FO in the draft besides passing on a possible Quinn-to-Jarret tandem that most certainly seems probable it would of helped our offense more than Beck-to-Ginn is that they were trying to move back into the 1st round to draft Beck. This would of certainly entailed trading both of our 2nd round picks and/or possible 2008 draft choice(s). I think they got lucky no one was willing to trade with them or the majority of the fans may never of given Cam/Mueller a chance once the smoke the past draft cleared up.

Naw, Of course not...Months of work and research on college players and they had no idea who they wanted...Of course not

yes there is a chance that quinn-jarrett can be better but no one knows that not you cam or randy we drafted ginn and beck because that was what we thought was a better move, and i think it was to o have some trust in cam im tired of hearing the what ifs its over appreciate the picks we got

Come on man dont try to be smart, like u said after months months of research the best thing they come up with was that we really needed a punt returner with good speed?????? b-cause to play reciver we need a QB for him n if u wanna take a look at the roster we dont have one, that why now we're going creazy for a guy that KC dont want b-cause he has nothing in him:err:

I think Beck - Ginn is a better combo than Quinn - Jarrett...Beck has a better pct than Quinn and just as many td's, int's...Ginn i think is better than Jarrett

Everyone is always talking about the # between Quinn n Beck, i really like Beck but still did u guy take a look at the schedules this 2 guy had how had real games n how was the one playing alaska university????? of corse in some cases Beck's # a better but think about that

i believe they got the 2 guys they really wanted....

only time will tell if it was the right choices...

i hope it was...
